Greetings and peace be with you Alex891; and welcome to the forum,
With any form of gambling, when someone wins £1, someone else has to loose at least £1, and don't forget, the bookmaker takes a cut on top of that. Gambling can become an addiction for many people, because the thought of easy money that you don't have to work for is like a drug.
I watched my uncle, he had a successful business in the 1950's, he ran 25 lorries, owned a huge warehouse, and he lived in a big house with a stable block. In my view he was incredibly unlucky, he went to a casino one night and won thousands, from that one moment of bad luck, he became addicted to gambling.
He died at the age of eighty five, living on benefits and pretty much destitute, having lost millions, he lost his business, house, and wife, he was always looking for a system to beat the odds.
My advice would be, don't get unlucky and win when you are young. Very clever rich people set the odds, they understand the psychology of greed, false hope and easy money better than we do.
In the spirit of earning an honest living
