Steamed ikan bawal can be tasteless sometime, better put extra soy sauce.

And oyster sauce...
I'm looking for someone who can prove to me that kari ikan bawal or masak lemak ikan bawal can be tasteless or downright ugly. So far I find the idea tempting. Oh... if only I can cook these things.

I have no idea.... maybe Syilla can further explain.

ikan bawal is usually cheaper than ikan kembung...

but sometimes it can be the other way round...

ikan kembung is nicer to be grilled...masak asam...yum yum...

Hey ... at Pasar Borong Puchong, ikan bawal puteh is veeeeery expensive. Around RM18 per kg. Ikan Kembung is only RM8 or RM10 per kg. I love ikan bawal putih.

My hubby like red snapper. the children loves all kind of ikan especially ikan keli. no need complicated recipe, just deep fry. mmmmuuuuah

Are fish cheap in Bahamas? Can you find those Malaysian fish like ikan cencaru, terubuk, sembilang, parang

Thinking about fish, I once had this ikan talam during my vacation on Pangkor Island. We were having this barbecue and the fish was as big as a platter. Urm... what do you call talam/dulang in English?

Anyways, the fillet was sweet and good and no little bones to disrupt you from enjoying your fish.

"talam/dulang" - platter?:?

Is it ikan talam or ikan talang?

or a Muhammad Saleh

Yeah, it is not hard to trace the origin of the name "Mat". Malays are very lazy when it comes to pronouncing people's full name. Sulai'man become Leman, Muhammad becomes Mat, Khadeeja becomes Kat or Jah.

By the way, I've just got my first niece. My elder brother's daughter.
