You are mistaken.Miracle is not essential to prove prophethood.There were many prophets but we do not see their miracles.
Even the Holy Prophet PBUH when claimed that he had received revelation ,he never said "come on I show you the miracles".If read the Holy Quran then examine what arguement did he present to the nation in favor of truthfulness.
قُل لَّوْ شَاء اللّهُ مَا تَلَوْتُهُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَلاَ أَدْرَاكُم بِهِ فَقَدْ لَبِثْتُ فِيكُمْ عُمُرًا مِّن قَبْلِهِ أَفَلاَ تَعْقِلُونَ﴿10:16﴾
(10:16) Tell them: 'Had Allah so willed, I would not have recited the Qur'an to you, nor would Allah have informed you of it. I have spent a lifetime among you before this. Do you, then, not use your reason? *
He presented his previous life and his character which he had shown to his nation in forty years.Did he say ,"that these are miracles which testify my prophethood"?
Even then Prophets were given miracles as secondary proof.Like shaqqul Qamar ,Or mehraaj and many others.Not the primary one. The basic aim of prophets was not showing miracles rather to spread the message of oneness of God.

splitting of the moon, when prophet (pbuh) made dua is that not a miracle to you? Prophet (pbuh) was given thousands of miracles to proove his prophet hood, his biggest miracle was the miracle of the Quran.
