MashAllah, I wish him the best. An amazing fighter, and he seems to have been through a lot of trials.
I wonder why it was not covered in western news :S

he's been retired quite a while now, so you won't hear much about him, unless he gets into a fight at an airport lol

They covered the death of his daughter last year, and when he was in trouble before that. He is still big news here. If not the BBC, I would expect AJE to cover it.

Sadly I have never made Hajj. I was in Mecca about 40 years ago, long before I had reverted and did not know non-Muslims were not supposed to be there.

I would like to go back for Hajj, but at this time it seems unlikely. Age and the time to obtain a visa are in a race to see if it can be a reality.

why not you try for the Umarah in Ramadan
Just a month is left in Ramadan give it a try
May Allah make things easy for you Ameen

Look for cheap tickets and good hotel deals. What time of year on the Gregorian calendar is the Hajj usually in?

From what I am being told that for us in the USA that were born here there is a 3 to 5 year wait to get a Visa to Saudi for Hajj. I will check into that further. My son-in-law and I made plans to go 3 years ago, but I was not able to get a visa. Now I am close to the Canadian border, I may see what I can do about getting a Canadian Visa. We have been thinking seriously of getting Canadian citizenship if the "Republic of Lakotah" fails to gain recognition as a sovereign nation.

Have you tried getting visa from Canada or from any other country

About 5 years restriction i have heard is for those people who have performed Hajj once for second time they have to wait for 5 years and this restriction is also for people living in Saudia Arabia
But there is no restriction for Umarah.

Each country is given a certain quota for the number of hajj visa, which is proportional to the number of the country's total muslim population. Indonesia, for example, having the largest muslim population is given a maximum of around 200,000 hajj visas each year. Unfortunately, despite high cost of going hajj (for average Indonesians), there are alot more applicants than maximum quote each year, and hence many citizens are put on multiple years wait; I myself am now on a four year wait :(
Although, at least in Indonesia, there are also special hajj packages where you don't have to wait, but they are extraordinarily expensive.

I notice that Mike Tyson managed to get a Canadian Visa and came from out of Canada. I will try to contact the Canada Da'wah Association. They may be able to direct me to the right people. I know I will have to get clearance from my doctor showing I am physically able to travel. Although I feel fine, I have some health issues.

Inshallah, if Mike Tyson can do it, I can also.

I just finished reading a short biography 0n Brother Mike and according to his biography he did leave the NOI and has accepted Islam. Masha Allaah

The Hijr calender is about 11 days shorter than the Gregorian calender. No months correspond with any Gregorian month as each year begins 11 days earlier each year than what it was in the previous year. Over a 12 year period Ramadan will occur at least partially in every Gregorian month. Ramadan will occur

Here is a Hijr date converter that may explain what I mean better.

Put in your Birthday and convert it to the hijr date, for several different years.

Was that ever a possibility? I dont see north America or any country where indigenous peoples were displaced by Europeans giving land to the first nations independent of their control?
