We currently have a number of Moderator positions open. We are particularly looking for people to moderate in one or more of the following forums:

Comparative Religion
World Affairs
Learn about Islam

If you are interested, please read the following information to gain a good understanding of what the role of a Moderator entails, and fill in the application form below.

Moderator Policy

In order to apply to be an LI Islamic Forum Moderator, you must:

• be an active member on the forum
• have a minimum post count of 500
• have 0 infraction points
• have a positive presence on the forum, which is reflected in the overall substance of your posts and interaction with other members

Being a Moderator is a demanding job and requires a high level of commitment and responsibility. At the same time, it can be a rewarding role if your intention is to please Allaah (swt) by helping to foster a better understanding of Islam and helping to maintain an e-Muslim community that supports each other and promotes the Islamic image.

Moderators should be knowledgeable and interested in the topic they would like to moderate. They usually have one or more specific forums (eg. Comparative Religion) to watch over, ensuring that people follow the forum guidelines, post in the correct place and generally keep unsuitable content out as much as possible. Moderators should frequently encourage member participation in their forum, both by posting in existing threads and starting new ones. They should be polite and helpful towards other members and give advice whenever needed and whenever possible.

Moderators should visit the forum each day, actively taking part in discussions as often as possible. They should also take an active part in discussions between Moderators relating to the running of the forum.

One of the most important aspects of being a Moderator is setting a good example to the other members. They need to uphold and promote Islamic values, etiquette and character. This will lay the foundation for dealing justly and decently with others.

How to Fill in the Application Form


The application form consists of 22 questions, in addition to asking a few personal details. All of these are shown as one list on the form, but they are divided as follows:


Questions 1-4 are about the section(s) you prefer and why.

Questions 5-7 are about how active you are on the forum.

Questions 8-17 are general questions which are designed to tell us a bit more about yourself and suitability to the role.

Questions 18 & 19: these are specific to Comparative Religion applicants. If you are not applying for this section, you can choose to ignore, but you are welcome to answer.

Questions 20 & 21: these are specific to World Affairs applicants. As above, if you are not applying for this section you can choose whether or not to answer.

Question 22: Allows you to add anything else you feel may be useful to tell us.

Please answer all relevant questions to the best of your ability, as honestly and accurately as possible. Then please be patient as we will review the applications and get back to you at some time in the near future Insha'Allaah.

Note that we might not be able to give you all or some of the sections you choose to moderate, but we will let you know and will try to find a suitable allocation.

Also bear in mind that you can only submit a form once, so take your time to fill it in properly.
