Muslim name or not??

but there is just one condition: it must has good meaning
even if the name came from Mars.. it is OK if it has good meaning

about "Sofiya", it depends..

but it written as "Sofiya/Sofiyah/Sophiya".. so it is not "صوفيا".. it is "صوفية"

It was Shafiyyah, as in Shafiyyah binti Huyay, Rasulullah's wife.

let me describe more as I can:

"Sofiya/Sofiyah/Sophiya".. all what was written we pronounce it as "صوفية"
and I think no doubt on it

so what is "صوفية"?

it has tow meaning:

1- it means "mystic".. and we know it means a women from a sect of "mysticism"
and in this site we are not allowed to talk about sects
but you understand what I want to say

2- it could means "fleecy".. as some thing was made of wool.. and a name of woman, it could be soft woman.. if it is, so it could be nice name

that is what I think of
I hope if there is some one else corrects my thought

Apparently, Sophia (Sofiah) is a Greek name meaning Wisdom. It probably isn't just a different transliteration of Safiyah because Safiyah has a 'Sa' sound, whilst Sofiah has a 'Soh' sound.

but our brother Flossy didn't ask about sofia or sophia.. neither about Safiyah
he just asked about Sofiya/Sofiyah/Sophiya

there is a different in the words and in the pronounce, while sofia and sophia are same, and Safiyah is an Arabic name and means something "pure"

but these words "Sofiya, Sofiyah and Sophiya", which he asked about, are another things.. isn't it?
