My Niqab

[Souljette]

You look at me and wonder
Why do I hide from the world take cover
A wall between me and this world, a barrier
Placed on this Earth to please God, and none other
Practise religion as commanded by my Creator
Admit committed many misdemeanors
but Allah is the most forgiving most merciful
for the knowledge I have, I'm so grateful
No idea the wonders I've seen
No idea the places I've been
At the age of fourteen
Learned so much about my deen
Growing up to be a woman
Trying to stay away from the evil eyes of men
One goal, one destination to achieve heaven
Gotta live here like i'm living in prison
NO matter what, I got to complete my mission
This niqab proves my modesty
reveals to people my real identity
love me for my personality
which matters much more than beauty
I gotta hold on to my integrity, my piety
Ain't letting no one take it away from me
for Allah I'd do this for eternity
Inside I feel peace and clarity

Don't think I'm oppressed
nor stressed or depressed
instead getting respect for being well dressed

I'm unique not a wanna-be
those who worry, don't worry about me
All of you wanna judge me
but ain't nobody but God can judge me
The other haters keep on hating
I just do what I believe in
In this world I have no peace
In the next i'mma be at ease
So don't tell me to get rid of my chastity,
That's all I can hold on to, my piety
