Netflix's 'Cuties' faces backlash for normalizing pedophilia, promoting Islamophobia

The movie has won Sundance Festival award earlier this year.
Due to the backlash, Netflix has apologized and removed the artwork, but has not cancelled the movie. It will be released on September 9th as scheduled.

And when they meet those who believe, they say, "We believe"; but when they are alone with their evil ones, they say, "Indeed, we are with you; we were only mockers." (14)
[But] Allah mocks them and prolongs them in their transgression [while] they wander blindly. (15)
Those are the ones who have purchased error [in exchange] for guidance, so their transaction has brought no profit, nor were they guided. (Al Baqarah 6-16)

Most disturbing thing is that the lead in this movie is a Muslim girl and somehow her parents allowed her to play this role.
 
It intrigues me to see that little children who aren't even old enough to watch this TV MA movie are allowed to act in it..
 
I've come across this 2 days ago, watched an awareness video by smile2jannah in the UK....

It's going to be too difficult keeping kids away from these kind of movies and shoots in media.

Any kid with access to social media or even Netflix in the house will at some point encounter this movie or a shot of it.

I know it's French but social media makes anything Internationally widespread.

With all this stuff and LGBT sensitising at early age makes the world look like a scary place in the future.... There will be a lot of confused souls....

I have one question to ask. Hollywood is known to be a cult of child molesters and exploitation of children, especially of little boys. The largest victims in Hollywood movies are boys victims. How come in Islamicboard.com I hear no one talks about it. I need to ask a question for learning purposes because this is what I am getting from society so please moderators let me ask this question so that I learn: Is molestation of boys ok and not as severe as molestation of little girls? Which is worse molesting boys or girls and is molesting boys ok?
 
Its also France. I know in France there are lots of liberal Muslims. Many Muslims are in the film industry and also support LGBTQ. France is another dangerous zone for muslims
 
She has a muslim name so she is but regarding if she is practicing or not or whether she believes, Allah knows best

The name of the girl who played the lead role is Fathia Youssof and she is a Muslim. There are so many people in showbiz industry who are born Muslims but their actions show that they have nothing to do with religion. They worship only their desires.

May Allah guide her to the straight path! Ameen!

My goodness, May Allah guide her, because if not, she is going to have a lot to account for on Judgement Day. I am scared enough for myself, I can't imagine being responsible for the sins of millions of others as well.

Oh, I hope I can figure out how to get rich quick and move away from this corrupt society.

Look what that video is promoting? Unshackle herself...from Islamic value. Excuse me. Islam is not a culture and value that is intended to shackle women into oppression. Ironically they place a female with full hijab and neqab to say unshackle herself from Islamic value. Must we remind everyone that you are submitting to Allah who created you male and female? Must we remind you that when you go through the horror and I mean it here...HORROR of death because when you are dying it is horror....much like the end of time is horror....but here you are facing that horror alone and you are seeing the world leave you and you are going to be separated from your family and loves and materialistic love objects.....by the hand of the angels who are commanded by Allah (Subhanahu Wa Talaa) to take your soul whom they can only do it by the will of Allah himself, meaning Allah IS THE ONE who is taking your soul to return to him and have your day of judgement started. What have societies have reached? But observe...again and again...observe...WHERE is the father? Where is the man of the house? Why is he not the one leading that house?

The movie is overwhelmingly opposed by concerned Christians in the so called west.

Very true. We have seen wikiislam and then what we will see? This is getting worse. I have the sensation that Al Masih Ad Dajjal is about to come in short time. I believe that ISIS is the final and last kharij and after it is gone then the Antichrist will emerge forth from it...

Of course it is just as bad. We were just talking about the girls because the cuties series is about girls.
 

Doucore : I was born in France, I grew up there and this movie is about a lot of traditions I saw when I was young, because when I was a child, my dream was to be a boy.
I didn’t want to be a girl because of a lot of injustices I saw around me. Because of that, I was praying [to] God at 6, 7 years old to make me a boy.
I saw that the world could be better and easier as a guy.
I grew up in both cultures — my parents are from Senegal and I also have the Western culture. I was often torn between both as a woman.
Today, I’m fine, I am happy to be a girl of course, but we have to fight to change the mentality of people about the place of women in society,
and the movie is about how to become a woman in our society because it’s a bit complicated.

TheWrap : The movie seems to be critical about muslim culture that she (Amy) comes from.
There is a scene about a matriarch lecturing women in the community about obeying their husbands, dress and act in a certain way, very subjugated way.
But then also criticize about how young girls in the western society are over sexualized, they have access to extremely sexual content before they have the ability to process that.
So you are critical to both cultures.

Doucore : Exactly. This little girl is lost in both oppressions of female. The question is should we have the right to choose which woman we can be in this world or not.
In our culture, even today, I can say I’m not totally free, because I love to wear short dresses and at the same time, when I go to a religious ceremony, I wear a veil.
So just choose as a woman: who do you want to be?
