never been so confused.

She said that she thought it was really cool that I've found something to believe in. (she is a practising Christian)
I trust her a lot, and I'm confident she won't tell anyone, and I knew I had to tell someone.

That's kool. :) May Allaah make the path to His Paradise easy for you, and us all ameen. You got anymore questions which you might need clarifying on? :)

Hiya

I can't but help smiling. Your dedication is really inspiring to us. May Allah make this path easy for you :)

As soon as I can find at least one Muslim to witness it.

You don't need any witnesses to declare your shahadah. :)
In order for a person to become Muslim, it is not essential for him to declare his Islam before anyone. Islam is a matter that is between a person and his Lord, may He be blessed and exalted. If he asks people to bear witness to his Islam so that it may be documented among his personal documents, there is nothing wrong with that, but it should be done without making that a condition of his Islam being valid.

Allahu akbar... I so needed to read this....

about fasting-- I find that when you start out it is difficult.. after a while you don't even think about it...if you have a late sihoor right before fajr with coffee, and then breaking your fast at sunset-- you really will notice no difference once in the throws of it...

May you always stand firm on the right path Ameen

This Christian too has joy for you that you may walk in a humble relationship with God, submitting to his will in and for your life all your days from this one forward.

I know you don’t need a witness, I guess I’d just prefer it if there was..Is it possible to revert twice, so to speak? I know one can say the shahadah more than once, but would it be possible for me to do it alone, and then again with a witness later on?

Sure you can, i think just reciting it once may be better in a way just incase you pass away, because islaam is about belief and also actions.. and then you can recite it in public also. What you feel is the best. :)

Regards.

Umm, I don't exactly know how to say this so I'm just gonna say it!
MashAllah, I did it, alone. I will be doing it again eventually, with a witness InshaAllah.
I know I'm gonna make a lot of mistakes to begin with  . But it feels awesome now that it's done! :D
Is it okay for me to keep this from my family and freinds for now, though?

Wow kool! Praise be to Allaah. :) Just to go over it again, it's:

Ash hadu an laaa illaaha illAllaah, Muhammadur - Rasool Allaah.

I bear witness there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, (and) Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the Messenger of Allaah.

Inshaa Allaah that is the right way to say it. Do you want to make a new thread so the brothers and sisters on the forum know of your reversion? Do it only if you want to.

And no - you don't have to mention it to your family and friends until you feel it's best, we know from the lives of the companions of the Messenger of Allaah that they would hide it out of fear of persecution etc. So do it when you feel its best. :)

I'm really proud of ya! :D :) i hope Allaah makes the path to paradise easy for you and all the muslims, ameen.

:salamext:

ALLAHU AKBAR :D :D

Welcome to Islam !

Alhamdulillah

May Allah grant you Jannatul firdaus you sinless angel, subhanAllah !

My experience as a convert/revert is this - Most of my friends were just curious at first and wanted to know why, the normal questions about dress, polygamy etc but they were not abusive or mocking. A few laughed at me and called me crazy but not in an unfriendly way.

My parents have failed to accept my being a Muslim but this has not changed our relationship. When I refer to myself as a Muslim they say "you are not a Muslim" and they change the subject. They still adore me and treat me the same way, it is just a topic we have learned not to discuss.

My best advise is not to tell your friends and family what they are doing wrong, nothing causes more bad feeling than telling a non believer they are going to hell. Allow them to accept your choice but do not try to force your choice on them. Answer questions hoestly and to the best of your ability but remember you do not have to justify your love of Allah to anybody.

took me a while to go oever this thread...but it's amazing...May Allah make this path easy for you and give u sabr (patience)...Ameen...
^^and as Al Habeshi said....that would be interesting to know...:)
