Assalaamu alaikum all . :statisfie

Id like to understand something. Whats with Im born muslim but im not a practicing muslim? When we are born into a muslim family , and we follow the teachings of our parents , we grow older building onto these teachings. How is it that someone born form a family like this , easily breaks away? Is it the influences from outside?

wa alaykum assalam warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,

Welcome to the forum.

Ultimately, it is only through the guidance from Allah سبحانه وتعالى that a person can remain upon the Straight Path. Whether one is born to Muslim parents or not, we all need to continuously seek Allah's guidance to keep us steadfast. Even the Prophets would be concerned about whether their children would die upon Tawheed, teaching us that we should not be complacent just because we are born to Muslim parents.

With regards to factors that affect people's adherence to Islam, then there are a number of things. Upbringing is a key part. Sometimes the parents may be Muslim but they themselves do not practice Islam, so the child doesn't have an understanding or attachment to Islam in the first place; they have not interacted with the principles of Islam, they haven't gained an insight into the beauty of Islam and they haven't tasted the sweetness of knowing their Creator and trying to get close to Him.

Influences from outside are also another key factor. Befriending the wrong company often causes people to become distant from Islam, not because they see errors in Islam but because they start to chase after the pleasures of the worldly life and they fall prey to their desires and the misguidance of shaytan.

Guidance is truly a gift from Allah سبحانه وتعالى and something we must appreciate and not take for granted. May Allah سبحانه وتعالى always keep us steadfast upon the Straight Path, Ameen.

Shukran brother Muhammad for the clarity....beautiful worded. May Allah guide us all yes, keep us steadfast. Ameen.

My concern are to those who has been raised in Islam , but sadly because of some , either the law or the parents who appear extreme, not in deen per say but rather the traditions/extreme laws of an Islamic country, that somehow drives these youths to believe that they need to free themselves not only from these stringent laws or expectations but sadly free themselves of Islam and Hijab as well . To my understanding , raised in Islam, however not exposed to the beauty of Islam, but rather forced to abide by the people of the countrys ethnic and cultural beliefs overridden very harshly by the Islamic teachings or way of life.
