Hello there,

my name is Alexia, and I was not raised religiously. However, I find faiths very interesting, and I would like to ask a question about the Muslim faith.

My question is a bit of a larger question so let me begin:

Recently, I began studying Near Death Experiences of different faiths (when a person is clinically dead, gets revived, and claims that while they were dead, they saw an afterlife). I have been told that in a Near Death Experience (NDE), most people see what they expect to see. I have read many accounts, and Christians will often claim to see Jesus, Hindus sometimes claim to see Hindu gods/goddesses, and Muslims generally have positive experience, have life reviews, feel peace, meet relatives, etc. However, I have noticed that Muslims never seem to report meeting Muhammad, or other prophets. Being a non-Muslim, I am not fully aware what most Muslims expect to see at the moment of death. Do Muslims expect to see Muhammad, or do they expect something else?

I am asking because I am quite ignorant when it comes to religious beliefs, practices, but would love to learn more. If anyone could answer this, I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

Alexia

People of other religions use this NDE as a way to confirm that they are on the right path and correct religion. But this is all a trial for them and a means to keep them astray if Allah Wills. Here is a link for some information of what a soul can potentially deal with just before death though it doesn't particularly discuss NDE:

And Allah Knows Best.

thanks for the answer, would you personally expect to be greeted by prophets or no?

No I would not expect to be greeted by our Prophet s.a.a.w. or any other just before death or a NDE. This type of information was never discussed during the time of the Prophet s.a.a.w and so it is just speculation. However, we can see the Prophet s.a.a.w. in our dreams and we will definitely see him and all the Prophets in Paradise, Insha-Allah. Link on seeing in dreams:

As long as the soul remains inside the body, dying man is alive, even, is declared clinically dead, till then shaytan keeps on trying to mislead him. It can come in any form before a dying person. So a Christian can experience the presence of Jesus but actually it's shaytan that comes instead of Jesus himself.

Since shaytan can not take the form of prophet Muhammad s.a.w, so he can't use this trick against a dying Muslim.

I guess I should have asked this question differently, I am specifically asking for expectations, if you had just died, would you expect to be greeted by any Prophets or would you expect other?

We ONLY expect to die as a Muslim. He who dies with faith in Islam, succeeds, if does not, then fails.

All the people irrespective of their religion, as soon as they die, will see prophet Muhammad s.a.w in the world of souls; but only those who follow him in this life, will recognize him in the next world.

Once you die, InshaAllah will see with your own eyes.

This ''NDE stories'' is only a satanic vision. It's nothing to do with expectations of viewing particular personalities.

Azc is right t

when a person dies in our religion islam we say that when he dies satan appears to him to make him give up his islam

Actually prophets are for only guidance and devils are only for mis guidance
So misguider cannot take form of guider ones. Thts why devil cannot take form of any prophets.. and cant claim himself as any prophet but godness he can claim..
You will call me mad .. but seriously thesr are Lil deep issue about aqaid

Isa a.s. is pictured like that to match that of the ethnicity where he is worshiped. You will also see him as a black man in predominantly black churches.

I thought for a moment afterwards, this bold part in your post make your point strong whereas I was keeping the famous hadith in my mind concerning this matter.

Anyways, It may be that shaytan visualize such images in the mind of dying person instead of impersonating literally....

Allah swt knows best...
