not very good at recitation of the holy Qur'an

I'm not very good at recitation, sometimes stop at the big words for a few seconds until I can get passed it. What if I listen to a recording of the recitation of the holy Qur'an and follow along with the recitation? Is it just as valuable as reading it myself?

There is two rewards for the one who finds it difficult to recite and their tongue is heavy on its recitation. So strive brother Inshaa'Allaah. Listen to tapes and repeat after the Sheikh and after a period, you will find it very easy on your tongue. Sheikh Minshaawi (Allaah yarhamak) is excellent for Tajweed and Tarteel.

May Allaah make the Qur'aan sa7lan for you.

Listening Sheikh reciting the Quran maybe will help brother.
And practice makes perfects.

What both of the above posters have said are very true. You will get more reward (inshAllah) for struggling, yet perservering. And also practice makes perfect.

I find listening to a shiekh and repeating after him is extremely useful. There are many many shiekhs that you can listen to. I use Sheikh Mishary Al-Afasy most of the time. His recitations are usually slow, and have nice qirat.

You just gotta keep reading and reading out loud. And also listen to Quran very often, whichever recitor you like most because this will ensure that you listen a lot.
But inshallah if you read aloud and listen to a lot of Quran, then you will improve. You should record your recitation frequently to see how you improve.

‘Aa’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, relates that the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said: “Verily the one who recites the Qur’an beautifully, smoothly, and precisely, he will be in the company of the noble and obedient angels. And as for the one who recites with difficulty, stammering or stumbling through its verses, then he will have TWICE that reward.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

I have the same problem, but i find as others have suggested reciting with a recitation cd in the background very helpful it builds up ur confidence greatly

I really enjoy Sheikh Mishary's recitations, he has an excellent voice and as the borther said a beautiful qira'at. Sheikh Minshaawi's my second favorit:thumbs_up
 
I really dont like Mishary Afasy i dont know why, I think its just the way he reads like its a song. I dont know thats just me. Sudais, Shuraim, Budair, Juhanee, Mohaisany, Ghamdi, n Maher are my favorites

Hm, I struggle a lot with my recitation also..
and I feel really embarresed about it
But listen to some Quran more..and also try to read the transalation..because that's helped me alot
It'll encourage you to practice and get better Insha'Allah

That is one of the reasons I like him. His recitations are so nice and melodious, and sounds like he really understands what he's reciting with the right intonations of his voice. You want to listen to more and more Qur'an. Likewise with his Fajr athan, it makes you want to get up straight away, well it does with me at least.

I agree with those that say to listen to a recitation...but also i think you should get yourself a teacher to help you with your quran reciation :thumbs_up

exactly why he's my favorit, he makes you feel what the ayat is about even if you don't speak Arabic
 
Sudais is best no doubt haha
Mishary cant touch em. not even close
lol nah everyone has there own style but I definitely take Sudais over Mishary any day. I know mishary is good when I hear him but just dont like it.
