No, it's not cancer.

It's funny: I was wondering when I first designed the thing if it was going to be too easy. Now I really am getting nervous that there is a serious flaw. But like I said, it's in the testing phase.

I wonder...did my use of the word "stand" throw any of you? I was thinking that the reader might take that word too literally. Once again I was trying to go for the old-fashioned style, make you feel like you were reading a riddle out of an old book, like an Alvin Schwartz compilation or something. In doing so I might have gotten carried away with the form and made a mistake.

I do believe you have four cages and five canaries.
 
Oh, gotcha, so you can't just have attempted to put them in two per cage, the number would have also broken even. I also see there's been quite a few posts since then, sorry
