On Delaying Salaat ul-Isha

Question:

Some of the people complain when it is said to them: “Why do you delay salaatul Isha while working or other than this?” So they say: “The (time for) salaatul Isha is up until midnight and the time (to establish Isha) is wide.” I beg from your eminence, clarification regarding this issue and the ruling on it with evidence for it. May Allaah preserve you and guide your steps.

Answer:

It is obligatory upon every Muslim to pray salaatul Isha and other than this (the other salawaat) with the congregation and it is not permissible to delay it and to busy oneself with work. This is because praying in congregation is an obligatory matter. So it is not permissible for anyone to oppose the congregation except with an excuse that has been legislated; like illness and what leads to it.
This is because of the saying of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم): “Whoever heard the call (to salaat) and he did not come to it, then there is no (reward for the) salaat for him except with an excuse.”

It was said to Ibn Abbaas (رضي الله عنه): “What is the excuse?” He (Ibn Abbaas) said: “Fear (of death) or illness.”

Assalamualaikum,

what if you do not hear the call for prayer?

:sl:

How common is the opinion that prays must be offered in congregation? In all honesty I have rarely ever heard this before.

I think he is referring to men, sister. For sisters, it's best we pray in our houses. Allahu a3lam.

:sl: My Dad told me that you CAN delay Isha because it is the last prayer, and there isn't going to be a prayer leading right up to it. Also, sis, I'm wondering is it permissible to do a prayer earlier if you are going to be unable to pray it because of travelling? Jazakallah kheyr in advance.

Yeh the opinion that I know of is that it is sunnah to delay the isha prayer...

Delaying the 'Ishaa. prayer

Question: What is the ruling concerning delaying the 'Ishaa. prayer to a late time?

Response: The best act with respect to the 'Ishaa. prayer is to delay it until its last time. Whatever amount it is delayed is better. This is true except in the case of men. If a man is going to delay the 'Ishaa. prayer and by so doing is going to miss performing it in congregation, then it is not allowed for him to delay it and miss the congregation. As for women in their homes, the more they delay the 'Ishaa. prayer, the better for them. However, they cannot delay it beyond half of the night.

Salamualikum.

As Isha prayer is quiet long many people do leave it... But Ya Allaah guide us all amin.

Ma'asslama.

:sl:

Brother should not delay the pray isha....they should pray it with JAMAT....in MASJID....so they would not able to delay it....

Sisters have to perform prayer in homes so they can delay it with a reason....or excuse.....because they are buzy in household works that time i meant to be dinner etc....they can perform it later because they have not bound to pray in masjid with Jamat...

jazakAllah
