just reading through all your posts made me feel better.
i realize that some of you believe that it is only permissible to pray for guidance for a non-muslim - that's perfectly ok by me. prayer is prayer and it's all good.
i know some here wonder why i don't become a muslim since i believe in the one god. as yusuf has said, i believe in god - it's religion i have a problem with. (any).
i can't see myself joining any religion, and if i were to do so, i would have to be able to accept it 100% and i am not a 100% type.
but who knows, what's meant to be?
it's a dark time, that's for sure.
thanks to all of you.

hey snakey is your illness really serious? as in life threatning :(

(sorry if it sounds rude)

To me it sounds like you've got the building blocks of the understanding of Islam, but no cement, i.e. there's just small things that you don't accept which destroys everything for you because you said you're not a "100% type".

Have you tried discussing them with people on this forum?

By the way if I'm sounding at all rude, don't reply to me.

nah, it's ok. yes, i've discussed them. and i know plenty of members who are happy to answer all questions i might have.
as a muslim, you know as well as i do, that these things are up to god...

:sl:

Yep that is right :)

However a person (not u, but general) can't just sit back and say 'ooh its up to god I just sit here and let god come and find me'

One must remember that we are in need of god, he isn't in need of us:)

I really really do wish u a speedy recovery, these are tragic days on LI :(

:w:

yes it is. they have found a large mass on my lung. :unhappy:

snake did they put a name on the mass, and stage it for you?

pls let me know ASAP
you can PM me if you want

peace

Eli.. you have nothing to lose and everything to gain by becoming Muslim...
The oneness of Allah swt can be experienced fully through all his rituals... pls my sister.. you have nothing at all to lose and everything to gain... ramadan is upon us and I believe through fast and prayer great things can be accomplished.. I have seen cancers go into remission by power of prayer alone..
pls sis consider that you can better cultivate your monotheism through the oldest and only religion of Allah swt

:w:

You have nothing to lose by accepting Islam, But everything to Lose if you do not.

Be a Winner and accept the message of Allah and his messenger.

p.s get well soon

i am ok with the shahadah.
but i can not accept a religion unless i can accept it 100% and commit to practicing the basics.
but i believe that i do not have a closed heart.
for now, that's all i can do.

stop being silly.....

A man came to the prophet and saidd can i accept islam on the condition of praying just twice a day. The prophet agreed to his acceptance. The man eventually prayed five times a day.

In another incident a man came and said i don't want to give up drinking and the prophet accepted only on the condition that he would not lie. So when the prophet next saw him he asked did you drink and he said yes.... it continues another two times each tie the man eventually giving up for Allahs sake.

Any conversion is not easy but it is only through sacrifice and Allahs help that it becomes possible. Your first step to coming closer to Allah is accepting and testafying the shahadah.

after that take it nice and slow and at your own pace and things will fall in place. Its not about getting everything right straight away..... all humans make mistake and even muslims do. At the end of the day we are humans prone to sin and make mistakes we are not angels!

please do not hesitate in accpeting Islam.

p.s its late im off to bed *yawn*

I think they will go for surgery to remove the mass :-[ . Please think at that and try to find someone who can look after pets until you will be at hospital(its better to think from time).

Also you should join a religion and begin to pray yourself :) The best prayer is your own prayer toward God.

Allah Ta'Aala doesn't burden a soul more than it can bare. it's hard to tell what 100% is nowadays, especially around Muslims! :blind:

there is SOO MUCH culture mixed in that most people have Mislam and NOT Islam!

Islam is following the Qur'an and the Sunnah. it can actually be a joy searching out what exactly that is.

my wife and i have been watching an 18 hour series of lectures by Bilal Philips on "The Foundations of Islam". it's really beneficial and you can also watch it here for free:

http://www.bilalphilips.com/bilal_pages.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=288

i think it was a 3 day seminar but it's really informative. i had been trying to explain to my wife that she is a "Shaafi'ii" cuz she's Somalian and that they have alot of culture thrown in as well. she's been amazed at how much she's learned.

you might enjoy it!

keep a stiff upper lip and all...

and remember...SOMEONE has to feed all those critters of yers!
:D

It is very difficult to make a commitment, unless you know you can commit to it 100%. Yet, sometimes all that is needed is the desire to try to commit 100% not the full kowledge that you can. There are no guarantees of the future, only the hope and promise of knowing you can put in the effort to learn and do your best.

With each of us,our fullest effort falls far short of 100% commitment, but each day becomes a time to improve over our failures of yesterday.

With that said You are in my duas for a full recovery and removal of all fear and pain for whatever the future holds.

just want to thank all who have posted again.
i don't want to turn this in to a religious discussion, but i appreciate your caring and concern.

We do tend to be in the minority. I am going to miss the snakes of Texas, there is a very large variety there, Nearly every species found in the US can be found there. Plus a few like the Texas cat eye snake and the Lyre Snake are only found there.
