Assalaamo Alaikum:
Differentiate the meanings :
غلام الرّجل العالم
What will be the meaning if
  1. I read last word as "alaalimu"(meem mazmoom)
  2. I read last word as "alaalimi" ( meem maksoor)
Best of luck

MashaAllah I get it now. Learnt something new walhamdulillaah,

JazaakAllah khayr. :)

I'll post up the next question for anyone, the I'raab to;

ﻻ حول و ﻻ قوة اﻻ بالله

It's meant to be: Laa Hawla wa laa Qawwata Illaa billaah.. For some reason the "Laam-Alif" is appearing at the end, rather then on front!"

Allah ma'akum..
Assalaamo Alaikum:
Hands up;Answer please ,great sister
Best of luck

Sister ! I am not an Arabic Scholar.A beginner only. Most probably you are Arabic speaking.I am non - Arabic.
No idea honestly but this seems to be some interesting puzzle.
Best of luck

Re: Quiz On Arabic Nahw & I'raab

Wa alaykum as salaam,

I too am just a beginner & also an A'jamiy (non-arab). So bare with my mistakes and all InshaAllah.

اعراب : ﻻ حول و ﻻ قوة
In the first حول there are two awjuh:

1) Bil-Fath. حولَ

2) Bid-dhamm. حولُ

If the first حول is maftuuh then that is because:

The (that is before it) Is: An-Naafiyah lil-jins (ta'mal 'amal inna, tansib al-ism wa tarfa' al-khabar)... haakadhaa:

حولَ و ﻻ قوة

Therefore قوة has three awjuh:

1) قوةَ ~ Bil'fath.

so the I'raab to the second half of the jumlah would be:

و : 'aatifah.

: Is the same as the first (An-Naafiyah lil jins).

قوةَ : Is Ism laa Mansuub.

2) قوةً ~ Bi-Nasb.

The I'raab of the secomd half would be:

و : : 'aatifah.

: Zaa'idah.

قوةً : Ma'tuuf 'alaa mahal ism laa.

3) قوةٌ ~ Bir-Rafa'.

The I'raab of the second half would be:

و : Isti'naafiyyah * not too sure *

: Bi-Taqdeer laa zaa'idah.

قوةٌ Mubtada'

Orr is alladhee ya'mal 'aml "laysa" (yarfa' al-ism wa yansib al-khabr) and قوةٌ is Ismuhaa (ay: Ism laysa).

For the second wajh, refer to Al-Kawaakib/ Al-Mutammimah.

Subhanallah!!!! Keep posting! I LOVE this thread! Makes me remember the joy of talab, subhanallah...I miss the challenge of i'raab, and now I don't think i'm up to it anymore...I'm so rusty :(

:sl:
Please differentiate the meaning
The sentences are :
كم كتابا اشتريت = kam kitaban ishtarayta
كم كتاب اشتريت = kam kitabin ishtarayta
???????
:w:

Wa alaykum as salaam,

I'm not too sure, but i'll give it a go inshaAllah.

The first one's is just asking "How many Books did you buy?" (1,2,3 or 4 ...etc)

And the second one's quite tough....is it showing ta'ajjub?

:sl:
yes first one is correct but not the second one.
Let me explain.
كم is of two types
استفهاميه = then it means "how many " (Kam Kitaanban)
خبريه = then it means "Many" (kam kitaabin)
So the first sentence means
كم كتابا اشتريت =kam kitaban ishtarayta
How many books did you purchase ?

Second sentence means
كم كتاب اشتريت =kam kitabin ishtarayta
You purchased many books .
:w:

In the first sentence, kitaab is mansoob bil...what? I can't remember, but the word is on the tip of my tongue. does anyone know what i mean?

:sl:
What is the difference between meaning of these two sentences ?
لا أشرب القهوة
ما أشرب القهوة

:w:
