Question about the creation of mountains in the quran

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah,

I’ve read in the Quran that Allah created the mountains in two days (Surah Fussilat 41:9-10), but I also learned from modern science that mountains usually take millions of years to form through tectonic activity. And also that some mountains are being formed still today. Could you kindly help me understand how to reconcile this with the Quranic wording? Is this an opposition between islam and science in this case ?!

Simple Answer:

1. We Quran says "God created", it means He planned, commanded, and set the system

In Arabic, especially in the Quran, the word “created” (خَلَقَ) doesn’t always mean something happened instantly or completely at once.
It can also mean that God:

decreed,

designed,

and set the natural laws that will make it happen.


So when Allah says He "created mountains", it means He created the system that would make mountains over time — like the tectonic plates, pressure, and volcanic activity.

So the mountains we see forming today?
They are forming because of God’s command from the beginning — His system is still working.

2. God is not bound by time like we are

We humans live in time: past, present, and future.
But God created time itself, so He is not inside of time.

> As the Quran says:
“A day with your Lord is like a thousand years of what you count” (Surah Al-Hajj: 47)



This means when God says "in two days", it’s a phase, not a 24-hour day.
And when He says "He created", it doesn’t mean it's over and done — it means He started the process.

3. Continuous creation does not contradict the original act of creation

The Quran also says:

> "Every day He is bringing about a matter" (Surah Ar-Rahman: 29)



So yes, God is always managing and creating.
That doesn’t mean He didn’t already plan and begin everything from the start.

For example:

God created the process of pregnancy — but new babies are born every day.

God created the law of gravity — but things still fall today.

God created mountains — and they continue forming through His natural laws.


This is all part of His continuous control, not a contradiction.

Science is falsehood.

I don’t understand why people believe in science and thinks it’s true or that science and the Quran must reconcile.

The Quran is from God and every single thing it says is true. Even if it goes against ‘modern’ science. It doesn’t matter. The Quran is a higher authority on Truth and what is reality.

Since the Quran is Truth. Science is falsehood and always changes, and will change in the future.

I don’t believe in science. It’s nothing. I disbelieve in it and everything it says.

The Quran is from God. I believe in the Quran and what it says.

Science is actually falsehood lol.

Anyone who believes in science is a fool.

The Quran is the Truth. Science is not. These two do not need to reconcile. The Quran is true no matter what science says.

Only a fool believes in science, in monkey theories and brains and other such stuff.

Like the 5 dogs, what do they call those atheists? The 5 horsemen? Lol.

One believes he was a monkey, one believes he is a brain right now, another believes, well he doesn’t believe anything really, the 4 I don’t remember, the last one believes in some monkey stuff too.

العلم كذب

لا أفهم لماذا يؤمن الناس بالعلم ويعتقدون أنه صحيح أو أن العلم والقرآن يجب أن يتوافقا.

القرآن من عند الله، وكل ما فيه صحيح. حتى لو خالف العلم الحديث، فلا بأس. القرآن مرجع أعلى في الحقيقة والواقع.

لأن القرآن حق، والعلم باطل، ويتغير دائمًا، وسيتغير في المستقبل.

أنا لا أؤمن بالعلم. إنه لا شيء. أنا لا أؤمن به وبكل ما يقوله.

القرآن من عند الله، وأنا أؤمن بالقرآن وبما فيه.

العلم في الواقع كذب.

كل من يؤمن بالعلم فهو أحمق.

القرآن هو الحقيقة، والعلم ليس كذلك. لا داعي للتوفيق بينهما. القرآن صحيح مهما قال العلم.

لا أحد يؤمن بالعلم، ونظريات القردة وأدمغتها، وما إلى ذلك من الأشياء إلا الأحمق.

مثل الكلاب الخمسة، شو بيسموا الملحدين؟ الفرسان الخمسة؟ هههههه.

أحدهم يعتقد أنه كان قردًا، وآخر يعتقد أنه دماغ الآن، وآخر يعتقد، حسنًا، إنه لا يعتقد أي شيء حقًا، الأربعة لا أتذكرهم، والأخير يؤمن ببعض الأشياء التي تخص القردة أيضًا.

على أي حال، لن أخوض في نوبات غضبي الإلحادية، فقد حُذفت منشوراتي الإلحادية الأخرى، عليّ أن أهدأ، لذا سأفعل. قبل أن أخوض في الموضوع.

Undoubtedly, God Almighty has revealed the Qur’an without any defect, but beware, my Muslim brother, of some beliefs that may have been subject to some confusion. Knowledge is never in conflict with religion. Rather, God Almighty said, “God will raise those who believe And those who have been given knowledge have degrees. Knowledge is built first on contemplation, then reflection, then theory, then proof. God has commanded us to do this in many verses, such as His Almighty saying: “Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought.” Knowledge is material evidence of God Almighty’s power. Your book, and how many atheist scholars we have seen who converted to Islam and believed in God after they discovered through science God’s power and the wonder of His creation and that He perfected everything, but we as Muslims must differentiate well between proven science and theory, for there is a huge difference.Atheists try to mix this with that just to find a justification for the nonsense and what they say. In short, science is never an empty thing, but rather it is faith in God and an increase in certainty and a vision of the wonder of God Almighty’s creation.
