Is it this verse? Surah Baqarah, verse 177

لَّيۡسَ ٱلۡبِرَّ أَن تُوَلُّواْ وُجُوهَكُمۡ قِبَلَ ٱلۡمَشۡرِقِ وَٱلۡمَغۡرِبِ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱلۡبِرَّ مَنۡ ءَامَنَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأَخِرِ وَٱلۡمَلَـٰٓٮِٕڪَةِ وَٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ وَٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ وَءَاتَى ٱلۡمَالَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِۦ ذَوِى ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰ وَٱلۡيَتَـٰمَىٰ وَٱلۡمَسَـٰكِينَ وَٱبۡنَ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَٱلسَّآٮِٕلِينَ وَفِى ٱلرِّقَابِ وَأَقَامَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتَى ٱلزَّڪَوٰةَ وَٱلۡمُوفُونَ بِعَهۡدِهِمۡ إِذَا عَـٰهَدُواْ*ۖ وَٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ فِى ٱلۡبَأۡسَآءِ وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ وَحِينَ ٱلۡبَأۡسِ*ۗ أُوْلَـٰٓٮِٕكَ ٱلَّذِينَ صَدَقُواْ*ۖ وَأُوْلَـٰٓٮِٕكَ هُمُ ٱلۡمُتَّقُونَ

Sis, is it this one:

الَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ فِي السَّرَّاء وَالضَّرَّاء وَالْكَاظِمِينَ الْغَيْظَ وَالْعَافِينَ عَنِ النَّاسِ وَاللّهُ يُحِبُّ الْمُحْسِنِينَ

3:134 who spend [in His way] in time of plenty and in time of hardship, and hold in check their anger, and pardon their fellow-men because God loves the doers of good;

و قضى ربك ألا تعبدوا إلا إياه و بالوالدين إحسانا إما يبلغن عندك الكبر أحدهما أو كلاهما فلا تقل لهما أف و لا تنهرهما و قل لهما قولا كريما

(Surah Isra: Verse 23) :X

إِنَّ اللّهَ يَأْمُرُ بِالْعَدْلِ وَالإِحْسَانِ وَإِيتَاء ذِي الْقُرْبَى وَيَنْهَى عَنِ الْفَحْشَاء وَالْمُنكَرِ وَالْبَغْيِ يَعِظُكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ

The answer is:
خذ العفو وأمر بالعرف وأعرض عن الجهلين
Keep to forgiveness (O Muhammad), and enjoin kindness, and turn away from the ignorant.

I dont mean to be nosey but is that your answer or is it based upon anything?

When Umar bin Khattab asked Abdullah bin Mas'uud the same question he replied with the verse I qouted.

If the hadeeth you said is sahih then the website I took the answer from can be wrong wallahuA'lam

Which is the shortest ayah in the Qur'an in terms of number of words in the ayah (not including the huroof muqatta'aat such as alif laam meem)?
 
I think it's "thumma Nathar" ثم نظر in Sura Muddaathir :><:
 
That is short, but in terms of the number of words in an ayah, there is a shorter one.....

Can't be the haroof muqata'aat such as alif laam meem, haa meem etc. They are exluded.
