RAIN is a sign of Allah’s mercy, providence and grace.

The following Ahadith explain the Sunnah of Rasulullah ﷺ during rain:

It is recommended (Sunnah) to allow the rain to fall down upon us. It is mentioned in the Hadith:

TRANSLATION:

We were with Nabi ﷺ when rain fell upon us. Nabi ﷺ opened his garment a bit so that the rain could touch his skin. We asked “O Rasulullah , why do you do this?” He replied, “Because it has just recently come from Allah.”*

(Sahih Muslim Vol.3 Pg.442 #898 Darul Fawaid)
*

We should recite the following Duaa:*

اللَّهُمَّ صَيِّبًا نَافِعًا

TRANSLITERATION:

Allahumma Sayyiban Naafi’a

TRANSLATION:

O Allah! Make it a copious, beneficial rain.

(Sahih Bukhari 2/675 #1032 Darul Bashair)

During HEAVY RAIN recite the following Duaa:

اللَّهُمَّ حَوَالَيْنَا وَلاَ عَلَيْنَا

TRANSLITERATION: *

Allahumma Hawa Layna Wa La ‘Alayna.

TRANSLATION:

“O Allah! Make it rain around us and not upon us. O Allah! Upon the mountains and the hills, down the valleys, and to the roots of the trees.”

(Sahih Bukhari 2/656 #1014 Darul Bashair)

*
And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best

We should make Duaa to Allah to give us BENEFICIAL RAIN and also to send down rain to those places experiencing DROUGHT and INSUFFICIENT RAIN.
