Asalaamz,

I know there are etiquettes for reading the Quran but what I want know is if there is any Fatwa that says it's ok to read the Quran in bed laying down as long as your in state of ablution.

I think the proper etiquettes for reading the Quran is great and very respectful but it limits the time one can expose himself to the Quran. I suppose I can look into audio files... but it's not the same.

I looked up some fatwahs but didn't really find anything to answer my question. So, if someone can find me a ruling on this issue that would be great. May Allah reward you all.

Jazkallah Khair,

W'salaam

wa Alykom Asalam

I am sorry brother I couldnt find a fatwa in English, but here is a simple translation I did for it

It says that its okay to read it if you are sitting, lying on your back or such

and they got the proof of that from the hadeeth narrated by Aish May Allah be pleased with her when she said:"The Prophet used to lean on my lap and recite Qur'an while I was in menses"

Also, they got another proof of that by this Ayah in Quran:

Such as remember Allah, standing, sitting, and reclining, and consider the creation of the heavens and the earth, (and say): Our Lord! Thou createdst not this in vain. Glory be to Thee! Preserve us from the doom of Fire.
(3:191)

here is the original text of fatwa from IslamQA

Thanks,

When I don't have an answer I follow this hadeeth:

55. Abu Muhammad al-Hasan ibn 'Ali ibn Abi Talib said, "I memorised from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace: 'Abandon anything that gives you doubt for what gives you no doubt. Truthfulness is peace of mind and lying is doubt." [At-Tirmidhi]

I follow that site as well.I didn't mean that I follow this hadeeth when I have an answer, especially from islamicqa.com
I just follow it when I don't get a responce. You said that this is undesirable?

Anything I doubt that it's forbidden but I'm not sure, I abondon it,in most cases.

Well, if your reading Quran with proper etiquettes and get tired and still want to keep reading. You can't... so you close the book and go do something else instead. But what do you do if you want to continue to read, possibly in a more comfortable position in your bed?

So far I got conflicting responses, one that says it's ok and another that says it's disliked.

So, now the Quranic Ayah that mentions "reclining" does it mean laying in bed or seated in one of the know "reclining chairs" of current times?

Just on the note, reciting from memory is one thing, and reciting from reading is another.

Assalamu Alikum

I'm confused about this. During the time of Muhammad, saws, they only recited the Qur'an because it's recitation and they probably didn't have paper?

To make things easier I would just not read it on the bed,if possible.

It would be a good idea to read it after you finish praying, then read it on the rug on which you pray,I could be wrong?
