Hii All,

Islam is a logical religion base on logic and its fundamental is a way of life nicely suit for human. Allah us created with intelligence and power of reasonings, analyzing, thinking, cognitive skills...a grey matter....
This made a great difference our dignity is far from other being...

This means that we Muslims should understand the reason why we should prohibited from drinking alcohol and abstained from eating pork. Its a simple logical reason.

Why should we deny? When its HARAM, its HARAM...:blind:

Salamualikum.

Allaah says NO then NO... there's no need to ask WHY when Allaah says NO!

We have to follow Allaah's commandments

The same Reasoning is what restricts some human from accepting it.

they take it in this way :

why should i follow them.

how different does it signify from other concepts happening around the world

Thus their level of understanding the core creamy layer of those teachings is very very less.

That's the reason

Thank you for confirming my statement...Allah is All knowing and Graceful...
Its up to us, to be knowledgeable.:coolious:

There is no need of logics and reasoning in the religion. We have a blind faith in Islam. Logics and arguments are the worries of those, who are in doubt or having second opinion about faith :peace:

Thank you..Islam is not a religion of blind faith. It is a religion of logic and the ways to achieve peace and progress..Allah created us the highest rank and it depends on us to represent ourselves to HIM. He created us with brains for us to think, explore and learn to be knowledgeable and well equipped...that is why Islam taught us to find knowledge to dignify this living.

Explore the knowledge and Islam is the guide line in vertical context, meaning it cannot be changed but to analyze, comparison and resolved. This is vertical thinking..no twisting and turning, simple and straight forward.

Integrity is intelligence...:)

There are some threads with some high level reasoning u can find them on "Refutation " section and some on "Comparative religion " also Insha Allah

i don't have any idea what vertical and lateral matter have to do with reasonings or with alcohol either, for that matter.
i agree with ahsan.

I appreciate your sincerety..

vertical is you analyzed, you compare, you work for it but accordingly to the principle and guidelines..that cannot be twist and turn...it rigid.

lateral is you find ways and means to resolve the solutions...twist and turn

Like drinking alcohol eg..some says moderation is acceptable..so this type of mindset is lateral thinking...twist and turn (they get ways and means to reason out )

Allah provides us cognitive skill for us to be constructive in our lives so that we are able to solve our problems and able to cope with our daily stresses of activity living. Unless we are born congenitally without cognitive skills, Allah will forgive us.:statisfie

Allah Says in the Qurán:
THERE IS NO COMPULSION IN RELIGION - 2:256
The religion is made by commandments. And these Commandments must be accepted by humans through reasoning, except those which human beings limited knowledge cannot afford, like believing in the gayb.

Believing in gayb like believing in yourself. Gay is also another type of mindset like you need to rehabiltate and therapy.

I would say, obviously your education in school does not cover this topic.

i hardly went to school - maybe that's why.
this vertical and lateral reasoning stuff is completely new to me! i'll just keep my mouth shut and see what i can learn. :hiding:

I am glad you are not shy to admit. Me, too, I am a kindergarden dropout. But luckily, I managed to pick up a little before this kindergarden dropped me out.:D

Greetings,

Vertical and Lateral thinking are concepts designated by Edward de Bono, the Maltese psychologist. They do not play a particularly significant role in contemporary thought outside of his work, as far as I know.

A much more common distinction made by logicians is between deductive and inductive logic.

Islamic belief makes much use of deductive reasoning, that is, there are lots of rules, and a Muslim's behaviour should be guided by following or extrapolating from them.

Peace

thanks for the link.
I_notGenerous, i wasn't joking about school. i developed a chronic and fatal allergy to formal education in grammar school.

^^^ are you gay? if so then perhaps you can shed some light on what drove you into homoeroticism and dispel some of the myths and doubts for us..

cheers!
