Revive a Sunnah : Don't Curse

It is narrated by Um Al-Darda' that she heard Abu Al-Darda' saying, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said,

WHEN A PERSON CURSES SOMEBODY OR SOMETHING, THE CURSE GOES UP TO HEAVEN AND THE GATES OF HEAVEN GET CLOSED. THEN, IT COMES DOWN TO THE EARTH AND ITS GATES GET CLOSED. THEN, IT TURNS RIGHT AND LEFT, AND IF IT DOES NOT FIND AN ENTRANCE TO GO ANYWHERE, IT RETURNS TO THE PERSON CURSED, IF HE DESERVES TO BE CURSED; OTHERWISE IT RETURNS TO THE PERSON WHO UTTERED IT.

- Abu Dawud, vol. 5, pp. 210-211, no. 4905; Ibn Abu Al-Dunya, Al-Samt wa Adab Al-Lisan, p. 206, no. 381; and verified by Abu Is-haq Al-Huwayny.

Don’t think that someone else is more blessed than you are...
It’s just that, we are all blessed in different ways...ALHAMDULILLAH!

And He gave you from all you asked of Him. And if you should count the favor of Allah , you could not enumerate them. Indeed, mankind is [generally] most unjust and ungrateful.
[Surah Ibrahim, 14:34]

Do not accuse people of sins, because you do not know if they have already repented and God has already forgiven them. (Tirmizi)

Narrated Anas: The Prophet said,
"Whoever possesses the following three qualities will have the sweetness (delight) of faith:
1. The one to whom Allah and His Apostle becomes dearer than anything else.
2. Who loves a person and he loves him only for Allah's sake.
3. Who hates to revert to Atheism (disbelief) as he hates to be thrown into the fire."
(Sahih Bukhari: Book #2, Hadith #15)

The Prophet sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam said:

“Faith wears out in your heart as clothes wear out, so ask Allah to renew the faith in your hearts.”

[Mustadrak al Hakim 5, Hasan by Albani in Silsilah Sahiha 1525]

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said,
"If any one of you improves his Islam (i.e., his sincerity) then his good deeds will be rewarded ten times to seven hundred times for each good deed, and a bad deed will be recorded as it is."
(Al-Bukhari)

The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) warned against envy by comparing it to fire that completely burns the wood.

He (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said:
"Beware of jealousy, for verily it destroys good deeds the way fire destroys wood." [Abu Dawood]

And those who say, "Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous. Those will be awarded the Chamber for what they patiently endured, and they will be received therein with greetings and [words of] peace.
(Quran 25:74-75]

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said,

"Angels come to you in succession by night and day and all of them get together at the time of the Fajr and 'Asr prayers. Those who have passed the night with you (or stayed with you) ascend (to the Heaven) and Allah asks them, though
He knows everything about you, well, In what state did you leave my slaves?"
The angels reply: "When we left them they were praying and when we reached them, they were praying."

(Sahih Bukhari : Book #10, Hadith #530)

“Show mercy towards those who are on earth so that the angels who are in heaven will bring mercy on you by the order of Allah.”

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Wealth does not decrease because of charity, and Allaah increases His slave in honour when he forgives others. And no one humbles himself before Allaah but Allaah will raise him (in status).”
Narrated by Muslim, 2588.

If you commit a sin, say “Astaghfir-ullah (I ask Allah for forgiveness).”

If you are given a blessing, say, “Al-Hamdu-Lillaah (praise be to Allah).”

If some disaster befalls you, say, “Innaa Lillaahi wa innaa ilayhi raaji’oon (Truly, to Allah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return).”

Seek rizq (provision) by giving charity

Reported by Abu Hurairah (RA): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said,
"If they knew the merits of Salat after nightfall (`Isha') and the morning (Fajr) Salat, they would come to them even if they had to crawl to do so.''
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Reported by Abu Hurairah (RA): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said,

"He who recites after every prayer:

Subhan-Allah (Allah is free from imperfection) thirty-three times;

Al-hamdu lillah (praise be to Allah) thirty-three times;

Allahu Akbar (Allah is Greatest) thirty-three times; and completes the hundred with:

La ilaha illallahu, wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, wa Huwa `ala kulli shai'in Qadir

(there is no true god except Allah. He is One and He has no partner with Him. His is the sovereignty and His is the praise, and He is Omnipotent),
will have all his sins pardoned even if they may be as large as the foam on the surface of the sea.''
[Muslim]

Bukhari :: Book 9 :: Volume 93 :: Hadith 652
Narrated Abu Huraira:

The Prophet said, "(There are) two words which are dear to the Beneficent (Allah) and very light (easy) for the tongue (to say), but very heavy in weight in the balance. They are: 'Subhan Allah wa-bi hamdihi' and 'Subhan Allah Al-'Azim."

Don't worry about the haters and backbiters, inshaAllah they will be a great asset on the day of judgment. Just because they defamed you in front of others, Allah will raise your honor by allotting their good deeds to you, and when their good deeds run out, they'll take the burden of your sins. Isn't it amazing to have people who talk bad about you behind your back?

Thus, stand firm in pursuit of righteousness, the bigger the opposition, the bigger the potential asset. :D

Dawud :: Book 41 : Hadith 5076
Narrated Anas ibn Malik:

The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: When a man goes out of his house and says: "In the name of Allah, I trust in Allah; there is no might and no power but in Allah," the following will be said to him at that time: "You are guided, defended and protected." The devils will go far from him and another devil will say: How can you deal with a man who has been guided, defended and protected?

Muslim :: Book 34 : Hadith 6470
Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: He who called (people) to righteousness, there would be reward (assured) for him like the rewards of those who adhered to it, without their rewards being diminished in any respect. And he who called (people) to error, he shall have to carry (the burden) of its sin, like those who committed it, without their sins being diminished in any respect.

Muslim :: Book 4 : Hadith 1766
Abu Darda' reported Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) as saying: If anyone learns by heart the first ten verses of the Surah al-Kahf, he will be protected from the Dajjal.
