i woudn't mind it from close friends or people i know, but someone else, if they did it then i might find it offensive

Well, rolling your eyes, is like when you look up and people usually do it when they heard something stupid or something. But it's not necessarily mean it can be in a kindish way lol

I tend to find that if you ask somebody clever/geeky a "basic" sort of question, a question that according to them, the answer is sooo blindingly obvious, they'll patronise you by looking at you funny and rolling their eyes.

I see ur point, usually the only sort of situations i've seen guys doin it. Its definately more of a girly thing tho i'd say typical for girls...

And it depends what kind of eye rolling you mean, see, there are many kinds. That scene which AD described can by no means be described as "feminine" or even "masculine".
