Salam Aleikum / Peace be upon you. I am curious how the Muslims explain for themselves this information from the Quran and other Islamic sources. I have no intention to debate here.

Towards the bottom of the universe is the giant fish of whale[1][1]. Sometimes that fish or whale gets agitated, and that is what causes earthquakes. On the back of the giant sea creature are seven earths, all of which are flat[2][2]. They are stacked up like pita-breads, except that there is a 500 year journey in between each one of them[3][3]. We live on the top earth, which, again, is flat. The sun and the moon chase each other around our earth[4][4], but they can never catch each other. The sun sets in a muddy pool somewhere out west[5][5]. There are people who live near the pool. They can tell you all about the pool. Above us, in the lowest heaven, are the stars, which are missiles that Allah uses to shoot demons when they try to sneak into paradise to hear his scheming[6][6]. When you see a shooting star, it’s because Allah became angry and hurled the star at a demon. Above the stars are the seven huge domes that enclose the seven heavens [7][7]. Each of these domes is solid and would fall on us if Allah didn’t hold it up by his mighty power [8][8]. Above the seven solid domes is a large sea, which is as deep as one of the heaves. Above the sea are eight mountain goats – they are giant! – which are all as tall as one of the heavens. And above the goats is the throne of Allah [9][9].

Muslims believe in Quran and authentic hadith attributed to the Prophet of God. Any other claims belong solely to those who say it.
Regarding your story,ultimately the matter can be traced back to Ka‘b al-Ahbaar, who was the source of many weird things that are attributed to this religion. Therefore al-Haafiz Ibn Katheer pointed out in al-Bidaayah wa’n-Nihaayah (1/15) – after mentioning a number of weird reports, including this hadith – that it is one of the Israa’eeliyyaat (reports from Jewish sources) and said:

"In this report with this isnaad, as-Suddi mentions many weird things; it is as if many of them came from the Israa’eeliyyaat. "

None of these reports was proven to be sound or regarded as part of religious teachings, and they are not mentioned in the Book of Allah or in the Sunnah of His Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), the most that can be said concerning them is that they are reports from some of the early generations, and it is clear that the source of all of them is reports from Jewish sources.

Quran 65:12

It is Allah who has created seven heavens and of the earth, the like of them. [His] command descends among them so you may know that Allah is over all things competent and that Allah has encompassed all things in knowledge.


Nothing about sea creatures!

Now, what does Allah mean by "of the earth, the like of them" ?

Are these layers of earth joined and compact with each other?

The Qur'an is silent on these questions. Rationally all findings are possible, and none of our religious or mundane needs are dependent on resolving these issues, nor will we be questioned about them in the grave or at Resurrection, so that we need to do research about the seven earths, their locale or their inhabitants. Our position is to believe that there are seven skies and of the earth, the like of them. Allah has created them with His Supreme Creative Power. Qur'an has mentioned this much only. If the Qur'an did not find it necessary to give a detailed account of it, there is no need for us to exhaust ourselves trying to dig in this issue. This was the attitude of our pious predecessors as long as it does not contain any injunction for us to follow, nor does it concern our religious or mundane need. Another ayat of quran & Hadeeth , however may give clues that "the like of them" are earthy layers above each others.
