The terrorism threat level in England, Wales and Scotland remains unchanged at "substantial" - meaning that an attack is a "strong possibility".

Are politicians trying to scare us? If you look at other countries facing attacks, they don't tell the public about the threat level. What is the point? Do they expect the public to panic and not get on with their lives? Like you don't see Turkish government announce, hey look it's purple day, today there is a strong possibility you will die on your way to work.

if you keep their pig binging beer chugging minds occupied with the horror of those dastardly Muslims you can achieve two or three goals.
1- Keep their minds diverted from the real problems (the collapse of their economy) and all that it entails from loss of jobs etc
2- prepare them mentally for when it is time to commit a mass genocide against those dastardly Muslims-- there was a reason after all during Hitler's times that people were chanting of 'freedom' & other simple minded terms that spoke to their simpleton minds, so when the time came to see their fellow citizens dragged to their death they were pretty OK with it.
3- provoke Muslims and have them living in a constant state of irritability, fear and instability so that they'd do one of the following.
a- leave their religion and 'join the ranks'
b- move to other counties where they're made easily into collateral damage in one of their routine carpet bombings
c- do live up to their expectation and especially at the beckoning of agents provocateurs, so they can turn around & say we told you so Muslims are terrorists, it is in the very fabric of their religion, they're outsiders, so the whole cycle begins again, marginalization, vilification etc etc..

they'll never cease .. so we're told in the noble book!
question is will Muslims wake up and realize that this isn't a so-called 'war on terror'-- I don't know but I am hoping that they're waking up collectively ..

To be fair I don't think anyone really follows or cares about the "terrorism threat level" regardless of how often the media mentions it.

the party would do something similar in orwell's 1984,
manufacturing or provoking a group of people to become an enemy keeps the people from looking at the real enemies who are selling them out

It's actually for the benefit of government, not the public; just something the press have latched onto. Security precautions are raised and lowered in government offices and such depending on the perceived threat level. It's not a post 9/11 thing; it goes back at least as far as the 1970's where the threat was from the provisional IRA. Despite the ill informed paranoid gibberish from the usual suspects that's actually a pretty low level threat, BTW; been there for years.

since the police are doing most of the terrorizing - i tend to wonder who the anti-terrorists are - the kids they arrest?

This. I have said before that the real enemy of the people is their own government, but they distract us by reminding us that "Muslim terrorists want to take away our freedoms".
