Sikhism

to be honest I have followed this thread on and off... I am not sure so much what she does.. in grad school we lived together and I used to pray my way and she hers... she was very secretive about how she prayed so I never bothered her whereas I used to pray any where really...... she didnt seem to mind... once I caught her in the morning throwing water from the window and I asked her jokingly of course is the kitchen or bathroom weren't good enough for that act or if she just had someone in particular in mind on whom she wished to dump some water and she said it was part of her ritual prayer so said nothing afterwards... but what is that all about? why did she do that? Anyhow there is a hadith in islam that goes "ina aldeen wasi'a fa awghil feeh be rifq, ina almonbata la ardan qata'a wla th'hran abqa" basically meaning that religion is vast... to teach with gentility or not to come across with such force as he who is harsh hasn't crossed the desert neither kept his transport.... from hitting it too hard basically to move... I think it is an amazing hadith... and so when I approach someone about Islam I might get them a book or two... it takes years really and I usually have no expectations but just hopes.......

I have no idea what that ritual was about, i know my mum sprinkles Amrit (holy water) on my face in the mornings as a feeble attempt to bring me back to Siki.
I think that hadith sums up Islam perfectly. it is hard when wee have such hooligans in our faith who always seem to get all the attention to convey our message of peace accross. wwith such ignorant folk out there, its difficult sometimes without an open mind to find the truth
Just remember Allah (SWT) guides whom he wills.

Also as a quick point to all - Remeber, you will be judged on your actions and if you do not give Dawah in the correct manner or do not have the correct information, then you will be judged for this.
And Allah (SWT) knows best.

I would just like to add that although when speaking about our religion we sometimes speak ill of others and try to disprove their validity. we must take care and insure we are respectful at all times. there is no need to disprove other religions, all you need to do is talk about the wonders of Islam. The true Islam and if Allah (SWT) wills, it will have an effect on them. I have looked at length at some of the comments on this thread and much of it concerns people trying to disprove the other.

There have been comments and slander on both sides and the if you look back you will realise that the debate cannot be won by either side. it is upto the individual who reads these posts to make up their own mind.

All of what the sikhs have tried to write in order to slander the prophet's (pbuh) name has been refuted. it is their ignorance about Islam that we must direct our attention to. We shouldnt concentrate all our effort on disproving them. (althouh their theories are completely incorrect to us. We must try and give them our point of view as to what we believe. to them the unprovable fact that we will be resurected is absurd. To us, the concept of people's souls being transmigrated into flowers and tree's and fish etc is the same!
 
I must add that the statements regarding the Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) that he changed the commandment that God sent down to Him to suite his own needs as has been suggested by some of our Sikh guests is in itself a completley absurd claim. the fact that a Prophet of God would have the audacity to refute his commandment decreed by the almighty Himself and create it to tailor to his own ego or whatever other reason is something that only a ignorant niave person would think.

From what was written in this thread i see nothing that has silenced any of the Muslim's. just because the answers that have been given to the questions posed it doesnt mean that Muslims have been silenced, or that they are wrong. The 'post-modernisems and the 'anti-contradictions' are all well and good but what kind of answer is that for someone wishing to find the truth? it just leaves people with more questions. most of which cannot be answered. You will find that most Sikh people have no idea about what there religion believes let alone be practicing. Arrogant folk like Mr Dhillion and some of the other people who think that they have gained some sort of vistory because their 'far out' way of thinking hasnt rubbed off on others is quite sad to see.

You are right it can take years. for me to get my head around the whole concept of eternal ****ation took three years.
Books like "A brief Illustrated guide to understanding Islam" are great for beginners and open their eyes to the marvels in the Quran - Subhan Allah - a PDF copy can be downloaded from - www.islam-guide.com/islam-guide.pdf Insha Allah
 
fascinating... have you read Dr. Gary Miller's book? I thought it was amazing... I find the stories of converts more prolific than say someone who was born Muslim and wrote a book...

Its true that revert stories can be very compelling. i was watching a DVD made by 'soundvision' called 'Choosing Islam' there wernt any Sikh reverts on there unfortunatley but its amazing - Subhan Allah - How everyone has a different story and background as to why they choose Islam. one of the many miracles of the Deen.

I seriously doubt you're a Sikh 'revert' but continue with false information you have on Sikh and all shall be refuted (like it's not been done throughout this thread :rollseyes )

The goal of our life is to lead an exemplary existence so that one may merge with God. Sikhs should remember God at all times and practice living a virtuous and truthful life while maintaining a balance between their spiritual obligations and temporal obligations.
The true path to achieving salvation and merging with God does not require renunciation of the world or celibacy, but living the life of a householder, earning a honest living and avoiding worldly temptations and sins.

Are you sure you can defrentiate between Sikhs and Hindus? It's not a Sikh practice. No 'throwing of water' out of windows or any water in that case is apart of Sikhi, ask her where in Sikhi is this mentioned, and provide evidence!

No Sikh has EVER insulted a prophet of another, unless provoked. It's the law of nature to retalitate. We have nothing against Mohammed (Pbuh) OR Jesus. as were all representatives of the Lord God! - Now read through the thread and stop repeating yourself brother!

why would I want to do that and ask her for evidence too? lol
Also, I think I'd know what and who she is knowing her for as long as I did... I will not make my friend feel awkward about her practices, I just wanted to know why she did it? maybe it was a random thing that day? who knows? People innovate alot. A great thing about friendship is acceptance by the way, nothing would give me greater pleasure than her being Muslim and that is only because I care for her lots, but I will not question her in what appears to me a hostile way of why she does what she does? She isn't hurting me with her prayer! so why would I want to hurt her with words!

Yes why would you ask? Because it's ever so easy just to concoct up stories in order to show a true relgion in bad light! - It's not going to happen!

Say what you like, Sikhism is a true path, and no amount of slander will deter us!

I dont think im wrong mate - dont try and mock my reading ability because as you must know it is a pathetic tool. Explain how this is a lie and how it differs from what you have said? if i am lieing, what is Sach Khand and explain to the people how one gets there?
