I fear I will never marry or Ill have to settle for some fool. why are people picky over the most ridiculous reasons???? Shouldnt we look at someone in terms of the religious guidelines not some stupid cultural thing. i recently was contacted by a muslim brother who was interested in me, however when my male relative who was involved with the connection told him that our family was from a different area of our ethnic background he said he was no longer interested because he wanted someone from his area. :raging: is it just me or is that a silly reason? we are of the same nationality same religion same sect what else does he want? ugh

If this person is deciding to make a marriage choice upon geographical areas instead of religious conviction then your better off without him and be pleased that Allah SWT is looking over you. Continue in your Dua to Ask Allah SWT to grant you a Allah Fearing Husband and inshAllah he will send you the ultimate life partner.

I just hate this word different,what is the problem if someone is from another area aren't he a muslim a human being.Why can't people think with a positive mind.Its ok we have to live with those people and accept it otherwise there will be a big fight which will be a great loss to everyone

It is narrated in a hadith that a person who prevents his anger,on the day of Judgement,Allah will prevent punishing.(Shu'bul-Imaan, Hadith no.8311)
 
I thought you should marry on a faith base? Love God first and foremost and marry one who believes the same. Am i wrong? I am a perfect example of a different marriage, Italian guy...south Indian woman....i mean come on, how often do you see that? But we were married for more noble reasons than the typical cultural stuff.

1. God first
2. same place in life in faith
3. Know you roles! (as a man and a woman)
4. Treat each other with respect
5. Love one another

You don't need that dude. God will provide you with who is right for you, not who you think is right for you.

God be with you.
 
:sl: haha sis i think he just had a change of heart about something else and that was just an excuse he gave:) like it might have been that he had another offer from a sister in his area...who knows but all i know is that its just an excuse and nobody refuses for this reason anyway move on, don't lose sleep over it. you probably had a lucky escape

Sister I totally agree with you, it is pretty stupid. Regardless of Race, culture etc.. marriage is half of our deen i feel like people should not judge a person or marry a person based on where they come from but based on their islamic background, based on their deen cause its not Culture that will bring you to jannah, its the right man you choose who will help bring you to Jannah. May Allah grant us sisters/brothers rightoues spouses who will help us in deen and live a rightous life according to the quran and sunnah..AMEEN Sister be patient. :D

well inter-ethnic marriage sounds cool and all that. Sometimes its not practical, though. Even subconsciously we think differently as our culture has taught us.

Lets say a desi man marries an English woman. Both are Muslims. The desi man loves desi food but he wont get to eat it at home and he does not know how to make it. He will then have to buy it from desi restaurants everyday. You tell me how would it help the marriage?

There are sometimes practical reasons and in such situations its better to marry ppl from your own background. Just like how people born in UK would want to marry ppl born in UK.

Yeah some people may like that and their are benefits.. but the spouse can easily learn how to make desi food.. you know.. im from the carribean if i want to marry a man from pakistan and i learn how to make pakistani food you know.. anywho alhumdulilah either way.

Yes she can try to make desi food but it doesn't always taste the same or taste that good +o(, a desi person can always tell the difference :D. No offence to your culinary skills :statisfie

^^^ Totally agree with the fish in the sea...lol :). There are alot of Pro's and Con's to being married to a person who isn't from your culture etc...hmm depends how hard your willing to work at it i think
 
Theres once alot of few years back...someone interested in my cousin, so they came to the house and not just checking on her (i mean islamically of course) but checking the whole house including bathrooms and the kitchen. :uuh:

and for sure they don't want to continue...huhuhu.

But now she is happily married to a specialist (doctor) with three handsome boys :)
