By the way - welcome to islam sister.. i'm really surprised because only yesterday you were asking about how to perform the prayer, but one day later you're actually performing it and you've joined the family of islam without any hesitation.

Oh I was never hesitant in my intent to revert! lol I was hesitant because 1) I get really really confused sometimes when things are complicated and just looking at the prayers and how to say them gave me a big migraine at first. :embarrass

I knew about a week ago that I would revert and I called someone from our Islamic Society here in Boston and met with her yesterday. She was absolutely wonderful and she told me that if my only fear is that I will mess up the prayer or not do something right then I would wait for an eternity to revert. She said, you know...your time could come tonight. I know that Allah is the one and that Muhammed, peace be upon him, is the final prophet but I was afraid that as soon as I said the shahalah that I would do something wrong.

Kind of like when it's the first day of school and you get the new notebook and you don't want to mess it up.

anyhoooo...I took her words of advice and just did it. I feel overwhelmed and glad and I am still stressed out about not missing a prayer ( I keep looking at the prayer times and looking at the clock and thinking, ok ... what can I get done around here between now and then :uuh: ) and I am very sad that I cannot share ANY of this with my family but still, it is the best thing I know that I have done in my life.

I am a perfectionist and have slight OCD so thinking I may mess up kind of held me back. :rollseyes

Verily, Allaah guides those whom He loves.

You're the 3rd person on this forum who's reverted after visiting. First it was Fishman, then Ashley and now sister doodlebug alhamdulillah (praise be to Allaah Almighty.)

Well with all due respect, this site is great and all but I think what did it for me was reading the book The Idiot's Guide to Understanding Islam coupled with watching the video of the guy talking about how he and his wife and a priest converted to Islam due to a guest from Egypt that they had. His speech was basically what did it for me and I will be forever greatful that I was lucky enough to view it just at the right time.

peace

Asalaamu 'alykum warahmatulahi wabarakatuh.

masha'Allaah that's really inspiring. i think that salaah is real special in islam, because even the most disorganised muslim still prays salaah - so he knows about what's going on around him/her, i.e. what time it is etc. so it gives them a wake up call to spend their time wisely.

Alhamdulillah, Allaah Almighty placed it in your destiny that you would watch that video, so we all should be grateful for that. i was just trying to point out that you're the 3rd person on this forum who's joined, then later on become muslim - even though it wasn't actually through the members, it's like everyones known you for a long time already.

The Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon) said, "The world is but a (quick passing) enjoyment; and the best enjoyment of the world is a pious and virtuous woman". [Saheeh Muslim].

insha'Allaah your future husband will be really pleased, but most importantly - Allaah Almighty loves you, and that's why He has guided you.

Peace.

Wa alaikum assalam

Masha'Allah. May Allah make it easy for you. :)

I think the person ur referring to is Yusuf Estes. I could be wrong, but it sounds like him. That too was his story.

are you talking about Yusuf Estes?? Masha'allah that bro is just great and his story is wonderful!

Mashallah, Welcome home Sister. You will soon realise you did not become somebody new. You have returned to what you always were. It is a wonderfull feeling to know you have come back home.

Asalamu alaykum sister

Congratulations on your shahadah, and welcome to the family of Muslims

It's interesting about your name Bridget. I think the nearest Arabic equivalent would be Aaliyah, meaning high exalted, to ascend... well that's what Google says it means anyway
