software suggestions for Event Flyers?

I would like some suggestions, as to What software should I use for making the ads for our Halaqah and Booksales?

initally i used microsoft word, but it looks quite ugly and unprofessional..

any suggestions? I am not an art/ computer graphic students (I dont know anyone who is..) so I am here to ask you for help...

Ps. if anyone has any "ad samples" from the previous events!
plz post them here..I dont have much time left...:X

It's not unprofessional, but it's not suitable for what you need it for. Ms Word is word processing application not desktop publishing.

That is what I would recommend, Adobe Photoshop.

If you need any help, you can try ask Ähmed he is very helpful when it comes to stuff like this.
