Nice touch, which probably would be desired by many. I am basically more simple, I like the complexity of simple art. but I do have an extreme side that I like and also enjoy the gaudy view which would be like this:

All of those look magnificent! Some of you are really talented, alhumdulilah.

ok this one is called "America's View" and its a collage
Take your time with this one please I know at first glance it looks mighty strange but try to get "the point" of this one. I uploaded it big so you can really look more into it.
Tell me your interpretation of it if you dont mind.

^very creative. 'In the US, a woman is mostly measured by her appearance and therefore objectified.'

:sl:

After a quick look at it; it looks very much as a world seen through the media's eye. A world to live as instructed by a few; to live a life confined to the rules of the box. A world where only one opinion is given authority, and logic defined through a narrow dark tunnel.

:wa:

Now that is an interesting bit of ART^

I see it as a message that America sees only the material world of the media and it is a sadness.

The feelings I get when looking at that drawung is one of commercialism, materialism and sadness.

Yea you all are basically right great job!

the diferent tones making up the eye is the different ethnic groups in America
the measuring tape around the waist of the woman is symbolizing how most women in America are told that they have to be a certain size or look a certain way.
the child's hand symbolizes the next generation and how if this way thinking isnt changed soon the next generation will be even more extreme with it.
All the positive words like "beauty" , "love", and "pretty" symbolizes what a woman should think and feel about herself no matter her size or looks and that she should carry this belief with her in her mind at all times and love and except herself for who she is.
the barcode on her foot symbolizing that she can not be bought in a store or look like she came out of a store.....like a doll...she can only be herself.

Ok i need some opinions on this one. To me it lacks something..like maybe i should do some crosshatching or stippling in the background or lift some more twigs in the background without outlining it in black...idk suggestions please bc the background is a bit discolored in some areas and i kinda want to highlight it.

The background is too dark for the color of the foreground objects either lighten the background, Yellow ocher would be nice-- or brighten the foreground objects, here is a GOOD TIME FOR SOME HIGH LIGHTING. , but leave the twigs as they are.

^ see the only problem with making it lighter is that im afriad if i do that the twigs that i lifted up may get lost.
this is painted in layers i drew the white leaves and then painted the entire paper in
the yellowish orange, then drew leaves on the orange, painted all of it green, then made green leaves and finally painted the red over it.
painting the foreground objects may be a no go as well because i painted this with watercolor and i dont want the black ink to bleed into the paint or fade out.....i think i may just start all over

I see. Yes there would be a very high cance of colors bleeding through. An option you may try before starting over Is lightly spray the entire painting with a matte finish fixative. A very light coat. Do about 4 or 5 coats letting it dry at least an hour between coat. Then lightly brush a clear high gloss acrylice glaze over the leaves only and let it dry at least a day. After which use a lighter color on each of the leaves-- sparingly--- on the upper left 1/4 of each leaf as a highlight.

I think the key to figureing out what you've done wrong, is to check back and ask yourself what you oringially has in mind for the pic. what were you trying to produce? what was your concept, etc? then look a the picture and see what aspects of it dont conform to your original idea.

imo, something that takes away from the "niceness" of a pic is when it's outlined in places where it shouldn't be. it creates an imbalance and the eye doesn't really know where to look or cant figure out what its meant to be...but to me art is all those is about those details you cant see which come together to make the master piece and if any of those details arent in their place or are put somewhere unnecessarily (like so much of my own drawings :hiding:) , it takes away from the image.

for example, with the white leaf, its outlined in black. but you can already tell that its a leaf becuase it contrasts the background..at the very least make the outline lighter and where you have those black specs darken the outline in that section only.

i personally would have outlined the other leaves in a color that is a shade above the color of the leaf its self. so no black, but a darker green, etc.

just my 2 cents...=) i hope i havnt offended.

no not at all :statisfie i want you to tell me bc i have very little experience with watercolor and using paint in general. I am a drawer and painting is not my forte at all im just trying to learn and you are helping me..all of you are so may Allah (swt) bless you all.

These are old drawinf from when I tried learning how to draw humans and the different parts of the face and body....but stopped when i found out it was haram to draw animate objects.
