los uruguayos al igual que argentinos somos en su mayoria nietos de inmigrantes españoles e italianos , por lo general , somos de blancos de piel , aunque tambien hay descendientes de esclavos africanos , por lo tanto tambien tenemos poblacion negra y con el paso de los años , se ha ido mezclando ,asi que tambien tenemos poblacion mulata o mestiza , pero prima la raza blanca .

Doesn't probably have anything to do with Spanish. Probably one girl who was a leader type wanted to and the rest followed suit just to be cool like everyone else. It has to do more with the pack mentality of teenagers than language. If two or three popular girls decided to study basketweaving or autoshop, you would see most of the rest doing the same. And then there will also be the one rebel who chooses to do the opposite.

But it's not just girls; guys often do it too.

I think girls are jealous of spanish girls cuz all the guys talk about them.. maybe they think guys get turned on by girls speaking spanish lol..
