The Prophet - Peace and Blessings be upon him - said "It's the duty upon every muslim to strive for knowledge!"
Did the Prophet - Peace and Blessings be upon him - mean wordly knoweldge? or the minimun knowledge in the religion? are there any scholarly interpreations of this hadith?

Indonesian Ulama translate/interpret that hadits into
"Adalah
kewajiban bagi setiap Muslim untuk menuntut
ilmu"
There are two underlined words in that sentence :
- Kewajiban. This is means "wajib" or obligation. All Muslims are obligated to strive for knowledge.
- Ilmu. Indonesian share term "Knowledge" into two meaning.
First, "Pengetahuan". This is informative knowledge that makes us know "What". In example, we know what is airplane, where is Sahara desert, who was Napoleon, etc.
Second, "Ilmu". This is beneficial knowledge that makes us know more than "What" but "Why" and "How". In example, Muslim learn medic to know what is disease, why people get illness, and how to cure people.
So, as Muslims we are obligated to strive for beneficial knowledge, and use these beneficial knowledge for do something good for ourselves, for people, for Islam.
And those knowledge is not only about fiq'h, sharia, but also physic, biology, economy, etc.
