and yeah, that's what makes him so rubbish. he can do everything. what does that leave for a character, nothing.

Well the plot wil go soemthing like this...

Superman and batman will start of as rivals but then join forces, to fight the villians. Which seems like a good idea, otherwise if they kill each other what virtue do the posses!

Yep. Check in your local library, Dark Knight Returns is really cool and considered a classic of the genre.

Avoid 'The Dark Knight Strikes Again' though, as it's a bit crap.

Not really... He's got kind of 'occult' powers, i.e. he knows how to enter Hell for short periods of time. He's an exorcist. The film at least (I've not read the Hellblazer comics upon which it is based) is more of a horror movie than a superhero movie. I liked it.
