Sweetness of Imaan

I do not feel the 'sweetness of imaan' that I hear a lot of people talking about. Sometimes I feel close to Allah during Ramadan but not as much at other times. Has anyone here felt that sweatness of imann they all talk about? If so how did you go about attain that state? Thanks!

Salaam sister.
I can't say these will work for sure for you, but they can't hurt.

~ Read a lot of Qur'an.
~ Follow the Sunnah.
~ Maintain your salah.
~ Practise good hygiene.
~ Make lots of du3a.
~ Make lots of Zikr.

And this one is huge for me personally. Travel. Look at the natural world and remember for yourself that Allah (swt) created that, you and all of us. Masha'Allah. Everything is so amazing.

Well in Ramadhan you have a good purpose,you need to know what you are doing and why and inshAllah that will bring your iman sweetness back.

I used to feel like that for a long time.
I think the real eye opener for me was practicing the Prophet(SAW)'s Sunnah, and reading up stories about the beautiful companians of the Prophet(SAW) and the things they did merely for the sake of Allah Swt.Also try reading the Quran, and reading the transaltion to it, and Ramadan is coming soon, so Insha'Allah that will help.

When you are faced with the option to sin for example if your invited to go out and you know there will be music or free mixing, then refuse the invitation and carry out ibadah instead and you will feel the sweetness of imaan. Instead of watching your favourite soap, sit and recite the qur'an for 30 minutes. Recharge your imaan....

The Prophet said, "Whoever possesses the following three qualities will taste the sweetness of Imaan:

1. The one to whom Allah and His Apostle becomes dearer than anything else.

2. Who loves a person and he loves him only for Allah's sake.

3. Who hates to revert to kufr (disbelief) as he hates to be thrown into the fire."

It is best said by Ibn Al Qayyim

The keys to the life of the heart lie in
• reflecting upon the Qur’an,
• being humble before Allah in secret,
• and leaving sins.”


The Quran , The Quran The quran!! Reflecting on it , pondering over its meanings , and Asking Allah to open our eyes , ears , hearts and chests to the Quran , Really a person with a hardened heart reads the quran and a person with a pure and soft heart reads the Quran and the way the second one benefits from it is not like the first one , the second one comes out of the Quran with new guidance , new hope , fear and aims , come out with the LIGHT and more Imaan.

Lots of lots of repentance and being humble before Allah , seeking forgiveness a lot n asking for the hidayah a lot.

Leaving sins ,

Whoever leaves something for the sake of Allah , Allah will replace him/her with something better.

Leave sins , no matter how small for the Sake of Allah n He will bless u with something better , The sweetness of Imaan , the peace and satisfaction of the soul.


It is said that love of Quran n music can never be joined in one heart.

Its about the heart really , i will suggest you read some of Ibn Al qayyims works , Love his stuff, may Allah have mercy on him.



If you can understand arabic there are two great tapes by Sheikh Salim Al Ajmi from kuwait(available free online). The reality of this world , n the plesure of Obedience and the punishment of disobedience.


He mentions in it that the biggest affect of our sins and negligence is that Allah takes away the Pleasure we feel in worship and good acts away, so we pray but dont find any pleasure/peace and satisfaction , we make dua but dont get any pleasure out of it , its coz of our sins ,

Like ibn taymiyah says
In this world there is a Paradise, whoever does not enter it will not enter the Paradise of the Hereafter. (Ibn al-Qayyim, al-waabil, p.69) that is the paradise of obedience

n he also said :The one who is (truly) imprisoned is the one whose heart is imprisoned from Allaah and the captivated one is the one whose desires have enslaved him. (Ibn al-Qayyim, al-Qaabil, p,69)

In this world, man finds remembrance of Allaah, praising Him and worshipping him, a delight that is incomparable to anything else. (Minhaj as-Sunnah, 5/389)

Sins are like chains and locks preventing their perpetrator from roaming the vast garden of Tawheed and reaping the fruits of righteous actions. (Majmoo-ul-Fataawaa, 14/49


leave something for the Sake Of Allah , a gap will be creadted in your heart with the departure of that thing , fill that gap with the remmberence and love of Allah.

By no means shall you attain Al-Birr (piety, righteousness, etc., it means here Allâh's Reward, i.e. Paradise), unless you spend (in Allâh's Cause) of that which you love; and whatever of good you spend, Allâh knows it well. Surah Aal Imraan verse 92

We will never taste Imaan, piet , rightousness etc unless we spend from what we love , its not just limited to money and other things , even though that is first , but also to our desires , our wishes etc n lusts.

N may Allah reward you and bless us all with the sewwtness of emaan.

N also knowing the beautiful names and attributes of Allah , not just knowing the 99 famous by heart , no .. reda the quran , how Allah explains them ,

for e.g No vision can grasp Him, but His grasp is over all vision: He is above all comprehension, yet is acquainted with all things

Allâh knows the fraud of the eyes(cheating of the eys), and all that the chests conceal.

n many many other verses in the Quran that describe Allah , His power , His names , His attributes , His kingdom , His authority

The knowledge of names and attributes of Allah is very helpful , knowing Allah is very important , it really does make the heart soft , similarly knowing the mesneger sala lahu alihiwa sallam and his companions and our pious precedors and imams and muhaditheen and scholars and mujahids.

Remembering the Destination of Mankind in the Hereafter – a Cure for Weak Iman

When one’s mind is clear, he will be able to see clearly, thus giving such a person a light in his heart that will allow him to almost witness the Warning and the Promise, Paradise and Hell, and what Allah has prepared in this (Paradise) For His Awliyaa` (loyal friends) and in that (Hell) for His enemies. He will then witness people rushing out of their graves following the call of the Truth (Resurrection). The angels in the heavens will the descend and will surround them (creation). Allah will then come to judge (between creation) and His Kursi (literally a footstool or chair) will be raised. The earth will shine with the Light of its Lord (Allah, when He comes to judge between His creation), the Book (of Records) will be opened and the Prophets and the witnesses will be brought forward. The Mizan (Scale) will then be established, the books of (individual) records will fly around and the foes will converge, each holding to its foe. Al-Houdh (the pool that runs outside the gates of Paradise from a river inside it) will then appear and its cups will appear close by. Thirst will intensify, but those who are allowed to drink are few. Al-Jisr (the bridge over Hell that everyone must pass over into Paradise) will then be laid (over Hell) so that (mankind and the Jinn) can pass over it (as for the disbelievers and those whose sins outweigh their good deeds, they will fall into Hell, where only the disbelievers will reside for eternity). People will then be gathered in its direction. The Fire (Hell) will appear, each part harshly consuming the other parts beneath it. Those who fall into it are far more than those who are saved from it. Then, an eye will be opened in his (the man who is thinking about these scenes) heart with which he will be able to see clearly. His heart will then witness some scenes of the Last Life, along with imagining the various stages of the Last Life which will last for eternity, as compared to this Dunya (the life of this world) and its briefness.
