Right, let me think!

Hello- Namaste or just stick with the Islamic 'Assalamu alaikum' greeting

Q:How are you? - Kem cho?
A: I'm fine- Majemah/ Haru che

Thank you- Shukria
Welcome(As in you're welcome)- Maharbani

Goodbye- Awjoh

I kept the conversation sentence as simple as possible.

Woah I noticed wow as soon as you said 'Namaste', I thought Hindi :uuh: lol ok well cool as long as its Surti itll do me just fine!

Ok well I knew kem cho and haru che...

Welcome is new to me as is goodbye!!! thanks :D

Please don't go round saying Namaste to Surti Guji Muslims- they will probably think you're mad. It's more of a Hindu thing because as Muslims we still have our own Islamic greetings which are universal cross all languages we speak. :D

Yes exactly pheww haha awesome yea so in some instances it will be islamic talks which i know most of and in other cases itll be gujji talk which your helping me with thanks :D much appreciative!!!

No worries. What else? You pick the topic and i'll try my best to accomodate!

OK cool

Scenario:

Im invited to a friends house (Gujji Surti) and we have food together what do I start of with in regards to greeting and food talk?

- How do I say who I am?
- How do I say I work at uni and just finished my masters?
- How do I compliment their food?

Etc... :giggling:

- How do I say who I am?

Okey, you can first start off by saying salam and telling them what your name is.

'Assalamu alaikum. Maru naam Ferrari che.' or 'Meh Ferrari che.' (My name is Ferrari/I am Ferrari.

If you wanted to say how old you were you can say: Meh 24 waras nuh che.

And where you live: meh Pluto par rhem.:D

- How do I say I work at uni and just finished my masters?
Meh amreg Masters degree puree kayree neh university meh kam karuh / Meh amreg Masters degre puree kayree neh univerity meh kam kartuh che

i just finished my Masters degree and also work at uni

- How do I compliment their food?
Tahmunu kawanu maneh buh pasand lagtu che:D

i really like/enjoy your food

LOL @ Ferrari and Pluto hahahahaha like your sense of humour!!!

Ok so

Salaam
Meru naam Farooq che (and) Meh 24 waras nuh che!!!
Kem cho?
meh England par rhem!

*here they ask what I do*

Meh amreg Masters degree puree kayree neh university meh kam karuh (transliteration here is right?)

*after food I say*

Tahmunu kawanu maneh buh pasand lagtu che

YAY sounds similar to Urdu :D

Kem cho?
meh England par rhem!you don't live on England. par means on. In this case you would have to say 'meh England ma rhem' - i live in England

*here they ask what I do*

Meh amreg Masters degree puree kayree neh university ma bee (sounds better) meh kam karuh (transliteration here is right?)

*after food I say*

Tahmunu kawanu maneh buh pasand lagtu chemy typing mistakes are so bad it's supposed to be tahmARu. Also if you are complimenting the food after you've finished you will have to change the 'pasand lagtu che' to 'pasand layghu'. 'pasand lagtu che' is used in the present tense as you are eating.

YAY sounds similar to Urdu :D
