Teaching a special needs child to read

I have to teach a special needs child how to read. She is 6 and at her age children should know how to read. I can't teach her anything else until she knows how to read. I started teaching her the different sounds for-example, "ai" in "sail" but that's about it.

Any ideas on how i can teach her how to read, within a month? :/
