Dear All,
salam alaikom wa rahmatollah.

We would like to welcome you all to the newly established British Cupping Society. It is the first society developed by a team of Muslim medical professionals dedicated to the advancement of the research, promotion and practice of Cupping Therapy (medicine of the Prophet Mohammed pbuh).

They are going to be an official launch in the UK in the upcoming weeks so keep checking this thread for further news.

Fascinating .. I see an exclusion of Pregnant women amongst others -- I am curious of the benefits and/or side effects on women of child bearing age? Has this been tried on them.. Do women seek this sort of treatment in general?

Yes women receive the treatment. We have numerous patients of differing ages and ailments.

Pregnant women are delicate, therefore care and caution is needed when applying any form of treatment to them.
 
One sister said that her father had hejamah done and a lot of blood came out. That is a surprise and a concern for me as a wise practitioner would know not to bleed excessively.

The advice to everyone is that there are known medical and or proper health professionals who practice hejamah, so go to them to ensure that you are being given the best care.

To date there is no research trial conducted on pregnant women with Cupping Therapy; it is hoped that with the establishment of the British Cupping Society research and audit can be conducted allowing us to determine the best uses of Cupping Therapy.

i just want to ask how could i be amember of this society im adoctor &i practiced hujama for 8 y
 
Hijamah can cause a miscarriage in pregnancy therefore it is to be avoided.

www.natureshealthnaturesfinest.co.uk are already doing courses which are certified by the Complimentary Medicine Association.

I would never advise anyone who has only attended a one-day workshop to start practicing Hijamah on others. You have to pay around £38 pounds to buy the book and equipment (may cost more) and you will not be doing the practical i.e. cutting anyone - that you will be told to practice at home on tissue paper, tomatoes etc. All you do is stick the suction cups on them. There is so much more to be learned and the last thing we need is to harm someone and get this wonderful sunnah banned. Please do the full course if you want to learn the art.

^I am already doing a Hijamah course with the British Complementary Medicine Association through NHNF. But can you tell me what the procedure is register with the British Cupping Society once I have qualified? Are there any exams to take?

The courses organised by the BCS are designed specifically for health professionals (those professions recognised by the Health Professionals Council and including Medical Professionals).

The course involves a 4 days distant learning (self directed study) followed by 1day of practical workshops and seminars lead by esteemed practitioners and academics. Upon successful completion, certificates are issued.

The next course will take place in late summer (August, dates tbc) however details will be made available later this month insha'allah.

To register with the British Cupping Society (BCS) you have to have enrolled on one the courses they provide. Upon successful completion certificates are issued and a registeration number is issued.

PS - the BCS only registers health professionals at the current moment in time and does not take liability for non-health professionals. Exceptional cases may be considered pending committee approval.

I'm not %100 sure on this but I remember reading somewhere that cupping with fire is haraam, infact any treatment using fire is haraam I remember reading. You might want to look into it before you get it done.
 
it is heated .. they heat these cups and then put it on the back to increase circulation.. the same idea is implemented in those creams like Icy Hot and such...

I'd like evidence that this sort of cupping is haram--
