Re: Contradicting quotes

:sl: lol but the contradictions are not always talking about the same thing...as in you gotta look at the context, how it would be used :D

out of sight, out of mind

when you completely disregard something

but distance makes the heart grow fonder

referring to  and the face that when you're away from somebody you miss em more, not that you disregard em completely ;D :w:

Re: Contradicting quotes

Another one to contradict 'Don't judge a book by its cover' is 'First impressions count'. Such a strange dichotomy that we expect children to somehow understand.

they are not really contradicting quotes you know...i say that because at times one of them applies at times the other one...it depends on the situation really...its like once you say life rocks...the other minute you say life sucks

Re: Contradicting quotes

'I disagree with what you say, but I'd fight for your right to say it' versus 'if you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all'

Re: my fab quotes

"Greed is a bottomless pit, the destination of which can never be reached"

Re: my fab quotes

If your honest and frank, people may cheat you; but be honest anyway. What you spend years building, someone could destroy it overnight; but build it anyway. If you find happiness, they may be jealous; but be happy anyway. The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; but do good anyway. You will see in the final analysis it is between you and Allah- It was never between you and them anyway.

"One who tries to help the widow and the poor is like a warrior in the way of allah"

AMAZING quotes!

:sl:
My fave has to be:

“What can my enemies do to me?

My paradise is in my heart, it is with me wherever I go.

To imprison me is to provide me with seclusion

To send me into exile is to send me away in the path of Allah

And to kill me is to make me a martyr” -Sheikh ul Islam Ibn Taymiyya

'if anyone travels on a road in search of knowledge of islam, Allah will cause him to travel on one of the roads of Paradise. the angels will lower their wings in their great pleasure with one who seeks knowledge of islam, the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth and the fish in the deep waters will ask forgiveness for the learned man. the superiority of the learned man over the devout is like that of the moon, on the night when it is full, over the rest of the stars. the learned are heirs of the Prohets, and the Prophets leave neither dinar nor dihram, leaving only knowledge, and the one who takes it takes an abundant portion.' - bukhari
