i know especially mine

Here in the Southern US we do have some strange fish. This used to be my favorite to catch on a rod and reel, although many fisherman use a bow and arrow and hunt them rather than fish for them. They are common in still water and are often seen at the surface of the water. In the water they do look like alligators. They are called Alligator Gar.

they can be very large. Audubon wrote about finding them 20 feet long approx 7 meters long. the largest I ever caught were about 8 feet long (2.5 M)

Here is an old picture I found online that is about the size of the largest I ever caught (OK it does look 3 or 4 feet longer than mine was)

Here is a picture of "Splash" she was a favorite at the Texas State Aquarium:

splashmouth_sm-1.jpg

Here is her story:

Splash

Splash, former world record blue catfish, died December 6, 2005, at TFFC. She came to live at the center on January 14, 2004, after being caught from Lake Texoma by Cody Mullennix of Howe, Texas. At 121.5 pounds, she was the largest blue catfish ever caught and held that record until a 124-pound fish was caught from the Mississippi River in 2005. Splash is still the Texas state record blue catfish.

She doesnt look real to me?? is she?

Very much real and alive in that picture. Catfish are very sluggish and not active. Here are some other catfish pictures:
