The Kufic Script

When did this script really originate?

I went to the site but my brain got fuddled by the amount of info.In short if you people can describe about this..........

at that time it wasn't called the Kufic script I mean it did not acquire the name?

All scripts develops gradually, and only later are labeled as a certain script.
