I know someone, but that person is sophomore.

Facebook usually something like "UNC chapel Hill - Boys Housing" or "UNC Clas of '13" Try joining one of those groups.
 
Lol Well I am in Canada and contemplating on whcih university shall I go to :p. While I also have international medical school offers as well :D. can't decide, only issue is the money. And canadian universities are taking care of that for me for the most part, however international med. school aren't :o.

And I'm not a Freshman, nor am I really looking for a roommate.

I mean I kind of am, but really I'm good with the learning living communities:D

I wanted to go to an international medical school too!
Money isn't the issue, but it's rather the program. In Europe, I feel like they start medical school in their undergraduate years? Also, in countries where they have nationalized healthcare, I'm not sure if they allow doctors that might not stay and work in that country.

I know Canada is more U.S.
Med school is expensive everywhere. +o(

^^ I do know of someone who's going to Warwick next year...I think he's planning on doing a joint degree in maths and physics...but that's about all I know :X.
 
One of my friends has got unconditional offer letters from University of Essex and Heriot-Watt University. He wants to know which of them is better in terms of scholarships, academics and Muslims students there. Can anybody help?
 
MSc in Financial Software Engineering at University of Essex.
I don't know which course he applied for at Heriot-Watt, but it must be either something related to software engineering or MBA.

Essex is ranked 43 in the Times Good University guide, and Heriot-Watt is ranked 40. That's as much as I could fish out.

Just a note on ranking, they are typically for a whole University so it's always advisable to check our the ranking or standing of the department to which you are applying. Probably the best way to do this is find out what their research record looks like because that tells you the kind of learning atmosphere in which you will be working.

For example, Portsmouth University on the South Coast of England is ranked about 60th but I know they have a Cosmology group attached to the department of mathematics that is world class by any standard. The converse can also happen; meaning you can get a high score for the University as a whole but a low ranking for a given department.

I know that. Which is why I also tried to find out how well the finance/engineering -the two words that stood out of the three- section were... I couldn't find much.

Financial Engineering is essentially a mathematics course and most often done at Master's level so you need to be very competent to deal with it though you don't have a to have a maths degree but you must have come from a discipline where maths is central in some way such as engineering or economics. The best way to find out if its the course for you is to give them a call and talk it over and even better if you can go there and have a look around. They can show their facilities, software, databases and tell you about possible placements (might even lead to a Job) for a dissertation as well as discuss their research profile.

One way of looking at a course is just to go to Amazon and search for Financial Engineering books and there are loads of them and you will find several you can look inside and see a contents list and several pages of the kind of stuff typically covered. I hope this helps.
 
^Thanks for the info, I will pass it on to my friend. He has done Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science.
