The University 2009 entry thread!

Exams are in june so it takes them a while to mark them

I just realised ramzan is the day after and if don't get in it will be the worst ramzan ever

Lol, bro, no. You got it all wrong. I mean I can't wait to go to university, not to get my results. I most definitely can wait for my results, but I don't think I will get what I needimsad.

you've already started? Your lucky, mashaAllah! UK students have to wait until results day to find out if we have got into university or not. :skeleton:
 
One more week until college/university starts. All the public ones in my state start today. ALL my friends start today.
The only thing in my mind right now is "transfer...transfer." Actually that's been on my mind all summer.
I did Istikarah again lol. InshaAllah we'll see.
This is probably a bad time to have doubts about where I'm going.

Nope till the day of our A-level results. Its this thursday.

Mashallah Im glad you like your university. Are you the only there from your old school or do you still see familiar faces?

wow that is pretty early for a UK university. Most of the time British universities usually start around 28th September or 1st October. Which university are you going to if you dont mind me asking?

I sent of my UCAS on the 14th of October. I'm applying for dentistry, with two back-up courses.

University of Leeds - Dentistry - Acknowledgment
University of Cardiff - Dentistry - Nothing what so ever ! imsad (anyone applying here?)
University of Bristol - Neuroscience - Interview/UCAS Open Day

The wait is killing me... I suppose i just have to concentrate on getting good grades anyways :S

insha'Allah you get the grades your hoping for bro ... you should have applied to KCL for dentistry ... the teaching is excellent there ... i go KCL myself doing pharamcology i dont understand why the required from you such high grades for biomed :s ... still bro insha'Allah you get into dentistry ... you can check on ucas in the morning whether you got into your first choice or not :S ... scary stuff!! good luck :)

There are a couple people I know, but they're all juniors/seniors.. A friend of mine is doing the same major as me and she's a freshman as well, so that's good alhamdullilah. :)

ook lol I was wonderin, yeh I cant wait to get into uni and start my course, college got too boring, time to move on

woops yeh not good with dates yeh its around 30th september to 1st october
 
Inshallah I will apply to some universities this year. I wish becoming hafiz of Quran carried more weight when applying to universities in America. Like all these extracurricular activities and musical instruments and all that stuff is loved by colleges and everyone throws them on their applications. I doubt they will care if someone who has memorized the Quran is applying to their school. I know that the big reward for hifz is in the hereafter but still.
 
^ you could talk about on your personal statement (if you guys have that in the US) about how you were committed to a study programme which required self-discipline, consistency, effort etc....like talk about the general aspects involved in hifdh.

They will care about what you tell them but in general they are trying to assess your overall ability and learning potential not just in memorisation. But what I advise here is that if you say you are hoping to become an hafiz then what might, will impress them is if you draw their attention to the fact that it takes effort, persistence and dedication to do that and in learning perserverance is omnipotent. Have a look at post 315 this has the same idea.
