salaam bro ... I'm at Kings College London, going into my final year insha'Allah in sept, ye bro if you feel I can help you with anything then let us know and i'll try my best although pharmacy and Pharmacology are very different, Pharmacy are very much lab based But i did do a year out this year working in a lab all year around so picked up alot of lab skills alhamdulillah so if you want any pointers bro when you start then give us a shout insha'Allah

Wow, mashallah. I've heard King's is very good if not the best for Pharmacology. Are you planning to work in industry or research after your degree?

Jazakallah Khair. I'll let you know if any pointers are needed inshallah :)

Industry was a lot of fun and alhamdulillah I got my experience in that but insha'Allah I will like to do a PhD so gotta ask you to make duaa bro :)

ye bro let me know :)

I'll make dua for you... and this is the best month to make dua in.

Well, hope to see you in a few years as Dr. mahfuja, inshallah!

All the best.

I was just surfing through the net and came across this genius of a website. Firstly, Ramadhan Mubarak to all and a kind request to remember the Ummah in your duas at iftaar.

Sister, funnily enough i am in exactly the same position as you. I will be turning 19 this December and i have Uni choices to make. I wanted to study Arabic as its one of my passions but i don't think id be allowed. My first piece of advice is to do istikhaarah. Allah knows you the best and he knows what is best for you. I wanted to do Combined honors at UCLAN Psychology and Arabic, but i was advised not to do Psychology by a scholar. However, im still going through UCAS trying to find whats right for me. Its just nice to know im not alone! Lol.
Inshallah, the last decision we make will be the utmost correct one.

Finding a subject can be difficult but its not the end of the world if you get it wrong either and most Universities will be flexible if you find when you get there that the subject you chose is not quite right. It will almost always be possible to see a tutor and change course; you lose a little time but at 19 or 20 it's not that important even if you take a year out. Some points:

1. It is fine to talk over your choices with anyone who will listen sympathetically to you, that way you will get a chance to explore your choice in a open manner.

2. I note you said someone told you not to take a subject and there will be just as many who will tell you what to take. Listen to them and question them as to why they take that view and see if they have any real knowledge of the relevant subject and again that will help you form your own opinion. However, I would steel yourself against such suggestions because they are not you and they will not suffer any consequences however well-intentioned they are.

3. You can try inventing criteria such as: subject difficulty, job prospects, level of interest, university cost, is the subject rapidly changing, do you want to go on to research etc. But these must not become a kind of algorithm, they are just another way to explore your choices.

4. It is probably always best to choose a subject that you like in some way but look for a challenge also. You want something that inspires you because it is bound to get more difficult as you progress and that is when you need a reason to fight and persevere.

5. Finally, accept that you might not make the best choice, there is no way to be 100% certain that your choice is right because the future is unknown. But as I said earlier, there is no shame and no great loss in going a step or two back if that becomes necessary; see such an event as a challenge not a setback - better to do that than face years of drudgery and disappointment, always wishing you had chosen something else.

Wanna(').

You'll get in. Inshallah. Being as smart as you are. I was looking at their website and they apparently reserve places for current biomeds.

But do you have to do the UKCAT etc. all over again?

I hated the UKCAT:exhausted I did rubbish. Well below average.:hmm: I just can't do exams period.

Hnn, true.[/End of X; X = an ingenious form of humor]

Which is partly why I decided against going elsewhere even though my grades would allow it.

I don't know.

An advice if you happen to do the UKCAT again: pick all Ds.

Even though I got a little over average, my money's in the dumps now.

finally i gonna study Pharmacy! , my studying will start on 18. october 09 .. in sha' Allah .

The second and last option given to me was Computer Science. :hmm: Live with what you get.

Though, Insha'Allah I do have an intention to minor in English.
