I notice a lot of postings on choice but I might observe

1. When you get to University there will be both core and option subjects so automatically you get some flexibility.

2. It is also important to be aware that the study choices you make will not necessarily ruin your whole life so although you must make choices rationally it is not the end of the world if you make a wrong one.

3. It is also quite well known that as you move through life many many people change careers many times so again at this stage one cannot predict what will happen to you so don't get over-worried.

4. It is also worth saying in contrast that if one wants to get to the top say in Physics then you have to really focus because that will take about 10 years on average so the degree programme is only a start on that track.

Do you mean in terms of modules? Yes, some flexibility. But I think it varies with courses. If you're doing something like medicine, dentistry or pharmacy which is regulated by a council, then there's very little flexibility in terms of what you study.

Yes you are quite right that is why I added a note on 'getting to the top' where one has to focus sharply and medicine is one of those areas but even there the range of specialities is huge if one want to go academically further

Oh you mean the modules for the first year? Yeah I looked at programme specification too, and my first year modules look quite intense. It'll be ok inshaAllah as long as we keep on top of things.

We will pray for you and your mother but the best way to reassure her and make her relax is for you to explain that you have worked hard, very hard and that you are as ready as you can be. She will be happy with that because she knows that God rewards the efforts of the faithful.

PS If you mother has been ill and it has made study difficult for you then you should tell your tutor and he may be able to help you in some way
