This Forum is getting Disgusting

This forum is getting frankly disgusting now.

People come here either straight up Atheists or Agnostics or even guise themselves as Muslims and insult our Holy Quran, insult Allah SWT and Rasool SAW.

The mods were too fast to move a burger post of mine to the mens department based on free mixing which was frankly a joke but yet allow people to insinuate insults upon our Islam directly and indirectly.

Disgusting !!!!!
 
There is defo a lot more weirdos & trolls than before when i was last here

I mean ofcourse if some of them want to have discussions or even have questions fair enough thats fine, but when theyre just here to stir up trouble and openly insult they need be given out open warnings so others see it or just straight blockings from the site altogether
 
I have to agree. No way, years ago, a guy posting about impregnating 10 year olds would have been just 'accepted'.
I'm not saying it should be deleted, but like, hardly anyone's going to call out how disgusting that is?

I feel ya. I responded to a thread that one of our resident atheists made discussing something in regards to difficulties reading the Quran or something like that thinking he has a "got ya" moment.. Despite that, the conversation was respectful from what I remembered. Even an admin took part in the conversation. I don't think it even made it to 2 pages and a certain mod took it upon themselves to delete the entire thread for being "offtopic". I messaged the mod in question and never got a response. I have a feeling the OP requested the thread to be deleted because it didn't quite go the way they thought it would, but that's only my assumption. Of course, this is just one example of many. Based on my experience, this thread, and this post even, will probably be deleted or the individual posts will be moved into the "helpdesk" section where no one but the staff can see it. So yea...

Well, members come and go and soon situation is back to normal (if here ever has been any normal periods at all). No need to panic. During my over 10 years long stay in this forum I also have to say that moderating hasn´t changed any worse than before (please don´t hit me there, mods) but it´s as good as always (can I now get cookies after this statement?). :p:

Some joking has been tolerated in here - but only a little bit (and not very long time). Some members have always been in the outer space while others have planned revolution in the darkest basements of the forum.

To expound and expand on my point.

I am not taking a shot at Moderation. The Mods here know I have a good relationship with them and even suggested few implemented changes.

My point here is :

a) We have basically set up a podium for people to insult us and then responders take a "politically correct" approach. I have noticed that when a Muslim defends the issue, we have other Muslim Apologists coming in and slaying the defender for their "tone" not realising that the end effect is they themselves now have become progressive in promoting the very insult against Islam ....I can more than guarantee you that the Non Muslim OP sits back and has a jolly good laugh at us.

b) Not many people realise that the insults are usually hidden behind a sympathetic story. People get misdirected into sympathy giving rather than realising the hidden insult.

c) This part is directed towards the Mods and posters. There seems to be imbalance approach to "Reversion Vs Preservation" . We all welcome new Muslims and all Muslims know that feeling when we hear that someone has reverted to the Deen. However, Our first basic responsibility is to Preserve the Deen.
Whats the point of bringing one new Muslim into Islam at the cost of derailing ten others and loosing the preservation aspect.

When we allow certain posts to snowball, many Muslims reading that post can be derailed hence the preservation aspect weakens.

If we don't preserve the Deen in time to come there will be nothing to attain reversion anyway. So allowing certain posts without stumping them down immediately is in actual fact a tool leading to more destruction of current Muslims....while we living a pseudo hope that this one person will revert by entertaining the insults.

Something to think about.

And why not introduce more moderators to help fix the issue? What's the worst that can happen? I'm sure the forum has good loyal members inshallah

This is a busy week for me and I wasn't able to go through the reports and posts. :ia: we will take appropriate measures as soon as possible.

Sorry for hijacking your thread

But how do we report an actual person & not just their posts.

There are a few people who are very questionable with regards to their intentions let alone even being a muslim (i don't even wanna be that person to question someone being a muslim as that is for Allah alone to know but like what if the posts are seriously questionable making the entire person questionable)

With so much islamaphobia around is there any way to do more checks on new people coming to the forum putting they are muslim as their religion? (not to question their faith) but as a protection for everyone else i.e new muslims or those who may want to revert or even people with less knowledge who may read what they post see that they are muslim on their page & take it as truth when the person is not muslim and just here to cause trouble, doubts & arguments.

I mean its pretty bad on places like youtube, reddit, twitter etc etc and i would hate to see it become a common thing here as i love this place and have missed it but now coming back its different.

In sha Allah you understand what im trying to say.

Everyone has valid concerns here. I do urge people to just report the post or PM a mod. Instead of reporting it, many of you respond to the person and take the thread completely off topic, allowing it to thrive on that negativity. You basically take the bait. Now I understand that when someone says something outrageous and we have to clarify it because other people can be reading it and we don't want it to be associated with Islam, but you should still report the post.

Now when it comes to trolls. Usually we can tell right away or we have our suspicions, but with the suspicions there's no possible way to tell unless there's an obvious factor. Otherwise, we have to give them the benefit of the doubt until they actually break the rules or we find out some other way. When we were very vigilant about deleting threads and posts, we got chastised for it, and when we are more laxed, we are "not doing our jobs". It's a lose-lose with you guys :D I can pull up several threads about members complaining about how "strict" we get. That's besides the PMs from members who feel extremely insulted, upset, and defensive about their posts and threads getting deleted, which is a whole other issue that we have to deal with on a constant basis.

It would be much easier if things were black and white, but they're not. This is a discussion group and we need to facilitate discussion without members feeling restricted or censored, within reason.

This does go without saying, but I do feel very appreciative of the members who do report posts and moderate without requiring the "moderator" status. Things can escalate very quickly in between the times that I check on the forum, and sometimes I'm not 100% attentive with what's going on, or I intend to do something but get caught up with life, so when I see a reported post I get to it more quickly than having to look through each and every thread or having to figure out what's going on.
 
Well, why don't we work together? I mean, find out somebody who knows Arabic very well and has a huge collection or access to numerous important Islamic books of tafsir & shrah.so,he can explain hadiths.

make a list of bio-chemistry& molecular biologists among us.

make a list of doctors, genetic engineers (I saw a geneticist here) and bio-technologists, physicist. they can refute evolution.

you know, I have access to almost every answers to evolution, but, as an engineer I don't understand biological terms much.but I can provide information to experts, so that they can explain it.
