Understanding and compassion between spouses

Salaam, are there any articles with strong authentic evidence that disusses the understanding a husband should have for his wife? And vice versa? I wanted something that would help someone see there need to discuss certian issues carefully and compassionately out of understanding of the spouse's emotional state, disposition and circumstance at the time.
