VERY Rewarding Nafl Salaahs we can Pray Everyday!

Build Me a House…in Jannah!

The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said:
“Allah will build a house in Paradise for whoever is diligent in observing 12 sunnah rakaat (as follows):
4 rakaat before and 2 after the Dhuhr Prayer,
2 after the Maghrib prayer,
2 after the Isha Prayer,
and 2 before the Fajr Prayer.”
[Reported by Tirmidhi and others]

How easy is it to build a house for ourselves in Jannah? In this world mansions are designed by architects but in Jannah Allah is the architect so can you imagine how beautiful the houses and mansions in Jannah will be encrusted with jewels and made out of gold. They will be beautiful beyond our imagination!

So from now on let us make a firm intention to pray all of these Sunnah and we can have a house in Jannah built for us EVERYDAY! Subhanallah!

Salaatul Haajat

The Hadith mentions the entire method together with the Du'aa to be recited for Salaatul Haajat. Nabi (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) mentions, "Whoever has any need, then firstly, perform a proper Wudhu, thereafter perform 2 Rakaats Salaat (reciting whichever Surahs one desires). Thereafter, commence your Du'aa by praising Allah and sending salutations upon Nabi (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam)."

Recite the following Du'aa, "Laa ilaaha illallaahul haleemul kareem. Subhaanallaahu rabbil arshil adheem, alhamdulillaahi rabbil `aalameen. As-aluka muwjibaat rahmatika, wa `adhaaima maghfiratika wal ghaneemat min kulli birr was salaamat min kulli ithm, laa tada`a liy dhanban illaa ghafaratah walaa hamman illaa farrajtah walaa haajatan hiya laka ridhan illaa qadhaytahaa Yaa arhamar raahimeen"

(Trans: There is no deity besides Allah who is most tolerant and most noble. Glory be to Allah Who is the Lord of the majestic throne. All praises are for Allah, the lord of the Universe. I am asking you O Allah to bestow upon me Your mercy and forgiveness, grant me piety and protection from all misfortunes. Do not leave any sin on me except that you forgive me, relieve me from distress and difficulties and fulfil all such needs of mine which You are pleased with - O Most Merciful of those who show mercy.) (Tirmidhi pg.108; Ashrafiyya)

Together with performing this Salaat, one should always keep in mind that help and assistance comes only from Allah Ta'ala. Allah grants to whomsoever He wishes and withholds from whomsoever He wishes. If one's needs are not fulfilled, do not ever become despondent in the mercy of Allah because Allah is the most wise and know best the reason of withholding one's Du'aas and needs.

and Allah Ta'ala Knows Best

I am confused. I have been taught to pray Salaatul haajat in a different way.

In the first rakah, after surah fatiha, recite 10 times Surah Ikhlas
In the second rakah, recite 20 times surah Ikhlas
In the third rakah, recite 30 times surah Ikhlas
In the fourth rakah, 40 times.
After salaam,
50 times surah Ikhlas
70 times darud shareef
70 times La haula wala quwata illa billahi aliyil adheem.

Is this wrong?

Someone please reply

I need to perform Salaatul Haajat :(

Asalaamu Alaikum, My sister it is best to pray it the way it is stated in my post as it is from hadith.

May Allah grant you whatever is best for you. Ameen

And Allah knows best in all matters

Reciting Qur’an whilst in Qiyaam (Standing in prayer)

Abd-Allah ibn ‘Amr ibn al-‘Aas (may Allah be pleased with them both), narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

Whoever recites ten aayaat (verses) in qiyaam will not be recorded as one of the forgetful. Whoever recites a hundred aayaat (verses) in qiyaam will be recorded as one of the devout, and whoever prays a thousand aayaat (verses) in qiyaam will be recorded as one of the muqantareen (those who pile up good deeds).” (Reported by Abu Dawood and Ibn Hibbaan. It is a hasan report. Saheeh al-Targheeb, 635).

Getting closer to Allah through voluntary prayers

Voluntary prayers enable one to get closer to Allah as Allah says in Hadith Qudsi:

Allah says in Hadith Qudsi:

….and My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing Nawafil (voluntary deeds) until I love him, so I become his sense of hearing with which he hears, and his sense of sight with which he sees, and his hand with which he grips, and his leg with which he walks; and if he asks Me, I will give him, and if he asks My Protection, I will protect him..." [Bukhari]

It will also enable us to do many more prostrations which is the best and most closest position a Muslim can be towards Allah as the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) taught us:

“Prostrate much because there is no Muslim that prostrates to God except that God raises him one degree in Paradise by it and forgives for him a sin.” (Ahmad)

So the more we prostrate, the more our ranks will be raised in Jannah insha’Allah until we reach the highest level, Jannat Al-Firdaus, and this is where the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) will be. So praying many voluntary prayers will enable us to be closer to our Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) who is in the highest ranks of Jannah:

A Source of Elevation for you

The Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) said: "Ask (anything)." Rabi'ah said: "I ask of you to be your companion in paradise." The Prophet said: “Anything else?" Rabi'ah said: "That is it." The Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) said to him: "Then help me by making many prostrations (i.e., supererogatory prayers)." [Muslim]

Praying Tahajjud to get closer to Allah

The best of the voluntary prayers is Tahajjud prayer:

Allah Most High said, “Establish worship at the going down of the sun until the dark of the night, and (the recital of) the Qur’an at dawn. Lo! (the recital of) the Qur’an at dawn is ever witnessed. And some part of the night awake for its recital, as voluntary worship for you. It may be that your Lord will raise you to a praised estate.” [Qur’an, 17: 78-79]

Abu Hurayra (Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace be upon him, his family, and companions) said, “The best prayer after the obligatory prayers is the night prayer.” [Muslim]

Abu Umama al-Bahili (Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace be upon him, his family, and companions) said, “Hold fast to night prayer, for it was the way of the righteous before you, a way of drawing closer to your Lord, an expiation for wrong deeds, and a shield from sin.” [Tirmidhi, and others] In some narrations, there is an addition, “And it repels sickness from the body.”

And because night vigil time is the best of times for voluntary worship and prayer, and the closest a servant is to his Lord.

So let us make the habit of reading as many voluntary prayers as we can for more prayers we pray then the more prostrations will will do and one is truly the closest to Allah in prostration.

….bow down in prostration and bring yourself the closer (to Allah)." (96:19)

May Allah enable us to prostrate to him as much as possible so that we may be the closest to him in this world and the next. Ameen

The superiority of praying the voluntary prayer in a place no one can see you:

The voluntary prayer of a man (in a place) where no person can see him equal to twenty-five times his prayer where people can see him. (Musnad Aboo Ya’ala, Hadeeth 3821.)

The superiority of the prayer of a man in his house over his prayer (in a place) so that people can see him, is like the superiority of the obligatory prayer over the voluntary. (Saheeh At-Targeeb Wa At-Tarheeb)

Thanks for sharing! But Does the Dua said during the night prayer have to be in Arabic, can I say the general Duas , and also make Dua in english?

~God bless. May Allah (swt) reward you for spreading useful knowledge.

Maximising Nawafil (Superogatory) prayers during this blessed month:

In order to maximize voluntary prayers (Nawafil) this month then:

Make a goal of performing every Fard (Obligatory prayer) prayer at its prescribed time. The best tip to help you in this regard is to prepare for the Salaah a little before the Adhan (Call to prayer) goes on.

Add sunnah and voluntary prayers with each fard prayer that you perform (where applicable).

Perform different extra voluntary prayers such as Duha and Tahajjud. Make or use a Ramadan checklist to tick off each and every time you have completed a Nawafil prayer on any particular day. Make a target to gradually increase Nawafil prayers each day.

Remember: Each and every Nawafil prayer carries the reward of a Fard prayer during this blessed month. Subhanallah!

A very beneficial Nafl Salaah is Salaatul Tawbah (Prayer of Repentance):

Abu Bakr (Allah be pleased with him) related from the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) that he said,

“There is no one who commits a sin, goes and performs ritual ablutions, and then prays two rakats after which they seek Allah’s forgiveness except that He forgives them.”

After this, he (peace and blessings be upon him) recited Allah Most High’s words,
“And those who, when they do an evil thing or wrong themselves, remember Allah and implore forgiveness for their sins - Who forgives sins save Allah only? - and will not knowingly repeat (the wrong) they did.” [Qur’an, 3.135]

This has been related by Abu Dawud and Tirmidhi in their respective Sunan, and the scholars declared it to be a recommended prayer. [Ibn Qudama, al-Mughni 1.348, Ibn Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar 2.28, quoting Sharh Shir`at al-Islam via Shaykh Isma`il al-Nabulsi]

It is recommended to follow a bad deed up by a good deed - and how best a deed is salaah.

So, in shaa Allah, whenever we slip up/ err, we always remember to turn to Allah immediately, or as soon as possible, in sincere remorse and regret, begging of His forgiveness.

Even if it is a 'minor' sin - it has been a means of causing the displeasure of our Creator....who, if it were not for His immense mercy and love for His creation, would have eliminated us at the actual time of our disobedience.

If we really think about it - we should be making the effort to read these 2 rakaats of Nafl salaatul Tawbah everyday in shaa Allah (as, is there any day that passes, where we have not faulted in some way, no matter how seemingly small?)

May Allah Taa'la make this possible for all of us.
Ameen

Voluntary prayers fill the void of the obligatory prayers:

The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: "The very first thing a servant will be asked about on the Day of Judgement is the prayer. If it is found to be deficient, then it will be said, ‘Doesn’t he have any optional prayers?’ If it is found that he has optional prayers, then they will fill the void, and thus his prayers will be accepted, and the rest of his deeds will also be accepted." [At-Tirmithee, Aboo Daawood, An-Nasaa’ee, Saheeh Al-Jaami’is-Sagheer wa Ziyaadah #2020]
