We can pray inside the mosque and at home as well.Bascially can pray any clean place on earth.But for men it is highly emphasise sunnah to pray in congregation.There is some difference of opinion on this.

There is a difference between the meaning of "prayer" in the way Christians understand and what we understand.
What you probably mean with prayer is "talking to God", to ask him for something.
we as Muslims can do that kind of prayer anywhere and anytime, in or outside the Mosque, there are prayer services, ye could do it ourselves when we need to. In this kind of prayer, there is no Quraan recitation is required, but you could do it if you like.
The second type of prayer we muslims do is called "salaat", which is the obligatory five times daily prayers. we could do that at home or we could go to a mosque to do it in congregation with a leading imam. this is also offered five times daily at the mosque.
Salaat is always offered in Arabic and it includes the Arabic recitation of verses of the Quraan.

The Qur'an is called Al Furqan (The criterion between right and wrong). The distinction between right and wrong. The Qur'an as the decisive factor between good and evil. There is also a chapter of the Qur'an named Al Furqan which is the 25th chapter. You can read about in more detail here in a very easy explained way:

The Qur'an is a fundamental part of every Muslims life. It is emphasised for us to recite it every day with its meanings and for us to reflect over its meanings and implement it in every aspect of our lives. This includes the prayer services at the Mosque's, whereby 5 prayers are held at the Mosque's 5 times a day everyday. The prayer consists of reciting Surah Fatiha which is the opening chapter of the Qur'an in every standing of the prayer, followed by any verses of the Qur'an, normally the last chapters of the Qur'an which are smaller. We also have weekly Jum'ua (Friday) prayers whereby we have a talk about any Islamic topic of relevance, followed by a sermon in Arabic, a lot of which contains verses and supplications found in the Qur'an, followed by the prayer in congregation. Every year during Ramadan the entire Qur'an is recited in the evening prayers throughout the month, by those who have memorised the Qur'an entirely by heart. Most Masjids also have regular Tafseer (exegesis) of the Qur'an by learned Scholars for the public as well as Qur'an learning for young kids normally in the evenings on weekdays.
