Well, I didn't come across this thread until now ... but even if I had I am not sure I would have voted for the statue of Jesus.

In terms of a man-made structure (which, I gather, is what the poll was all about) the statue of Christ the Redeemer is pretty spectacular:
Apparently it "stands 38 m (105 feet) tall, weighs 700 tons and is located at the peak of the 700-m (2296-foot) Corcovado mountain in the Tijuca Forest National Park, overlooking Rio de Janeiro."

In symbolical terms it must be pretty amazing to see that statue standing high above the city as a reminder of God's presence in our lives and his protection over us.

Apart from that, the statue has very little meaning (to me, at least).

God alone deserves our praise and worship. God alone is almighty and glorious.
Any statue, no matter how huge or grand, is just a reminder of that - and never more ...
