We are two things.
We were sent down to a people.
That people said they could not endure us.

What are we?

The revelation (Qur'an) and the messenger prophet :saws:?

It was revealed during the time of the jahiliyah so maybe..
 
^ :jz: for those good guesses. Not quite what I was thinking of though. I think my questions are too general, so will add, firstly:

We are mentioned in the Qur'an.
We are always mentioned together.
That people asked their prophet to request something inferior to us instead.

Translation of Qur'anic verses addressed to that people, the Children of Israil:

And We shaded you with clouds and sent down to you manna and quails, [saying], "Eat from the good things with which We have provided you." And they wronged Us not - but they were [only] wronging themselves. (Qur'an 2:57)

And [recall] when you said, "O Moses, we can never endure one [kind of] food. So call upon your Lord to bring forth for us from the earth its green herbs and its cucumbers and its garlic and its lentils and its onions." [Moses] said, "Would you exchange what is better for what is less? Go into [any] settlement and indeed, you will have what you have asked." And they were covered with humiliation and poverty and returned with anger from Allah [upon them]. That was because they [repeatedly] disbelieved in the signs of Allah and killed the prophets without right. That was because they disobeyed and were [habitually] transgressing. (2:61)

okeee i got one.

i was sent against an army of disbelievers

i was used as i sign for a prophet by Allah

and i was used as a sign BY a prophet as well

What am i ?

let me make it a little more clear

I was sent against an army of disbelievers

I was used as a sign for a Messenger to increase him in faith,

I was used as a sign BY a messenger to show his people.

Have you not considered, [O Muhammad], how your Lord dealt with the companions of the elephant?
Did He not make their plan into misguidance?
And He sent against them birds in flocks,
Striking them with stones of hard clay,
And He made them like eaten straw. (Surat al Fil)

And (remember) when Ibrahim said, "My Lord! Show me how You give life to the dead." He (Allah) said: "Do you not believe?" He [Ibrahim] said: "Yes (I believe), but to be stronger in Faith." He said: "Take four birds, then cause them to incline towards you (then slaughter them, cut them into pieces), and then put a portion of them on every hill, and call them, they will come to you in haste. And know that Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise." (2:260)

And will make him [Isa] a Messenger to the Children of Israel (saying): "I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, that I design for you out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, and breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by Allah's Leave; and I heal him who was born blind, and the leper, and I bring the dead to life by Allah's Leave. And I inform you of what you eat, and what you store in your houses. Surely, therein is a sign for you, if you believe. (3:49)
